Post Best Book of Mormon Readings?

In a group I run on another networking site, a non-believing fellow, who claims to have read the Book of Mormon, came along asking what the most important part(s) are, I guess for those who don't want to read it all the way through. This is the list I made that I feel encompasses the overall message of the Book of Mormon...

1 Nephi 8 & 12 - Lehi's vision of the Tree of Life (8), and his son Nephi's subsequent vision and interpretation of his father's vision (12)

2 Nephi 2 & 3 - Lehi's teachings to his son Jacob and Joseph

2 Nephi 27-33 - Nephi's final teachings and testimony

Mosiah 2-5 - King Benjamin's speech to his people

Mosiah 11-16 - Abinadi's preaching

Alma 9-12 - Alma & Amulek preaching at Ammonihah

Alma 32-34 - Alma & Amulek preaching to the Zoramites

Alma 38-42 - Alma teaching his son Corianton

3 Nephi 11-28 - Visit of Jesus to ancient inhabitants of the New World and His teachings to them

Moroni - Teachings the final prophet was inspired to include in the record

What would be your list if asked the same question?

***By the way the guy, without warning, deleted all his posts, quit the group, and blocked me from sending him messages. I think maybe he realized he had no clue what the Book of Mormon really taught, and got scared.**

So am I (not the girl part).... this list is for people who aren't as ambitious

My plan is to read through the Book of Mormon once a month and the Bible every two months... equals, roughly, 60 read pages a day total.

I can't ever promise myself that because when I study I get side tracked by some thought I hadn't thought before.

I'm like Miss1/2. I'm also a cover-cover kind of gal. But when I read, I try to read at least 1 chapter a day and while reading, I go to all the books/chapters/topical guide mentioned in the footnotes and taking notes myself either on the side of the scriptures or in my journal when I come across something that seems to speak to me at that moment. Right now I'm reading El Libro de Mormón (yes that is the Book of Mormon in Spanish) and I have my Spanish Dictionary also next to me to help with words I'm unsure of the meanings.

While I appreciate you all sharing the particular way in which you read through the Book of Mormon... let's get

If a non-believer came and asked you what passages you would recommend they read to get an overall feel for the Book of Mormon and it's message, what would you recommend?

If I had someone who wanted a feel of the Book of Mormon without reading the whole book cover to cover, then I would recommend the scriptures that are part of the Scripture Mastery from seminary:

1 Nephi 3:7
1 Nephi 19:23
2 Nephi 2:25
2 Nephi 2:27
2 Nephi 9:28-29
2 Nephi 28:7-9
2 Nephi 32:3
2 Nephi 32:8-9
Jacob 2:18-19
Mosiah 2:17
Mosiah 3:19
Mosiah 4:30
Alma 32:21
Alma 34:32-34
Alma 37:6-7
Alma 37:35
Alma 41:10
Helaman 5:12
3 Nephi 11:29
3 Nephi 27:27
Ether 12:6
Ether 12:27
Moroni 7:16-17
Moroni 7:45
Moroni 10:4-5

I'm doing the Perla de Gran Precio myself (with dictionary!), in the challenge reading. Considering that a toddler in a Spanish-speaking family probably has as good a grip on the language as I do , I'm sure I'm missing stuff, but do seem to be getting the gist of the material.

I had an established pattern before the current challenge of a chapter a day each in the Book of Mormon and Doctrine & Covenants (this year), and continued that. The challenge reading is a separate study.

I don't always follow footnotes, just if something strikes me as worth pursuing.
