Default Is tithing tax deductible?

Just curious. Is paying tithing tax deductable as a charitable contribution?

Should be noted this is more a tax question than an LDS question. To my knowledge qualifying charitable donations to any recognized church, in the US at least, are tax deductible. If you are curious about the nitty gritty of what qualifies you can poke around here: Publication 526 (2011), Charitable Contributions

Yes it is. You can also deduct the mileage incurred volunteering at a charity. Teach a sunday school class? Deduct the mileage to and from church.

Probably, if your church calling is part of a paid ministry. Mormons are out of luck.

But the mileage deduction is valid.
