CURRENTLY:

Awakening to our Awful Situation, Writings from the Nephite Prophets by Jack Monnett

and the

"Fablehaven" series.

OTHERS:

The Richest Man in Babylon (everyone should read it!)
The Secret (not worth buying; some useful info)
The Bible
The Book of Mormon
The D&C
Pearl of Great Price
How To Win Friends and Influence People (an excellent book on learning to genuinely appreciate people and improve your interpersonal relationships)
Oliver Twist
The Crucible
The Good Guy (Dean Koontz)
misc. fiction

The best recent movie: Ironman

Others: Star Wars, Serenity, epics like Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans, Count of Monte Cristo, Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, etc. and triumph/heart warmers like Cinderella Man, The Pursuit of Happyness, Men of Honor, etc. I wait for the R rated shows to come out on tv so I can watch the edited versions.

I also enjoy comedies but I can't remember the last time I saw a good one, unless you count Forrest Gump or Pirates of the Caribbean (excluding sequels).

I enjoy being a member of the 501st Legion. I enjoy building movie quality props and costumes. I'm slowly building a Zorro costume for Halloween this year.

I enjoy singing and am a base voice in my ward choir. I was also a base singer in the Melchizedek Priesthood Choir in the October 2006 Priesthood Session of General Conference. Sitting in the choir seats by the large organ pipes in the Conference Center was an experience I'll never forget. The entire building is an architectural wonder.

I also write poetry/verse, I enjoy designing/drawing/illustrating, writing fiction, fishing, camping, hiking, climbing, rappelling, fitness, weightlifting, mixed martial arts... and Star Wars. Yeah, I'm a geek.

My newest hobby is building artifacts from the Book of Mormon. I am currently studying the Liahona and have now finished building one (see my thread HERE) based on all data and information from the BoM, JSH, FARMS, etc. It's a fun little project that has taught me a lot about how the Lord teaches us things. My next project will be the sword of Laban.

I also enjoy writing fiction. I have done extensive research for stories that I hope will be published, hopefully within a year. I plan on making writing for an LDS audience a part of my new career. Stay tuned for a fiction series coming soon.

I STAND ALL AMAZED

In a nutshell:

Born and raised in Texas. I've lived in Utah now since '91. I celebrated my 16th wedding anniversary November 8th. I have two full grown boys (I'm an adoptive father). I speak three languages--English, Spanish and German. I am a General Contractor and a writer/aspiring published author. I thoroughly enjoy reading and writing fiction.

Fitness, Athletics and Bodybuilding have been a huge part of my life and staying in shape and healthy is an important part of what I do for a living. I've been weightlifting for about twenty years but only briefly considered competing and opening up a gymn. I thoroughly enjoy mixed martial arts and have enjoyed watching UFC and other mixed martial arts shows for about ten years.

I am also a member of the 501st Legion, a world wide Star Wars costuming club and it's local chapter based in Utah, Idaho and Montana, where I have served the community by organizing and participating in local charitable events, such as Asthma Walks, Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes Walks and Toys for Tots fund raisers, Make-A-Wish Foundation and much more. I enjoy serving the community and making new friends.

Hi skalenfehl,
I was wondering if you could take a moment and watch this video of Elder Holland talking about God's Words Never Cease. Be sure to add a rating and comment. Thank you so much!

You are very welcome. I have been to Brigham city myself as I had one of my college friends who lived there for a while. She used to raise miniature greyhounds in that city. That is funny though, just from the standpoint of both of us have been in the area of each other. I hope you have a great weekend as well. Best of blessings,
Maraleh

I would love to read some of your research... I am of the same mind... there must have been others that left during that time period or similar as well.  Perhaps you could message me with some of your findings?

Thank you for your comment in my blog and my guestbook. That was a great comment regarding the degrees of glory and the tents--a most fascinating point of study.

Your Blog post really got me thinking in that direction... I am teaching the Old Testament in Institute right now and I have the Tabernacle on the brain... Keep the insights coming!
