I have some questions. What is the protocol for Farewells now? Do Missionaries still get a Farewell, who can talk and can there be a get together later?

I don't know the official answer to that, but I understand that there was some sort of notice given by out leaders regarding missionary farewells. I believe people were going overboard in dedicating sacraments meetings to the missionary about to leave with slideshows and all, so that has obviously been discouraged. But in my experience it is still very customary to have the missionary-to-be speak, sometimes along with a family member or 2. I think the key is that the sacrament meeting should not be about the young man, it just features him and is about standard topics.
It's never against the rules for members to have a "get together." ;-) There just must be food. With approval from the Bishop or Branch President, there shouldn't be a problem having it in the meeting house either.

Hey, so, my mission call has officially been changed to the Ukraine Kiev Mission. Still Russian speaking and entering the same day.

Just being curious, how much Russian do you speak ?
Have a friend who's at the MTC now, she serves in Estonia, heard these languages were hard to learn

I don't speak too much, but I have a good base since I heard it a lot. A good vocabulary too. The trick is to figure out the grammar. I'm working on it now though.

Wow, how did that come about?
