Default Parental controls for computer?

Okay, I am looking for a way to filter out all the "bad" sites and pics on the web. I know there are programs out there. Can someone recommend one?

Thanks!

The best I've heard of (that's free) is OpenDNS. It's a little hard to set up, but it offers some very powerful and secure filtering features.

I would like to know how to get Google to set my search preferences permanently. I keep setting it to strict search and it keeps lowering it to moderate safe search.

Make sure you don't have any programs that are deleting cookies (file cleaners and some virus scanners often do this).

My sister in law uses Bee Safe I think it's called. She really likes it.

The best filter out there is to have your kid use the computer in the living room, or some other high traffic area, so that anyone walking by will know what they're up to.

I use k-9 filter
K9 Web Protection - Free Internet Filtering and Parental Controls Software

Works really well. You password protect it. There a million options on what you want to allow and what you don't.

We just bought a new program recommended by the court system. It's called Webroot Parental Controls. Parents input key words. If someone tries to access a site with that key word..the program takes a snapshot of it and a very loud audible sound is heard.

I will be installing it tomorrow so we'll see how it goes.
