Default What to do with your kids this weekend (NPS free weekend!)

I was on abcnews.com cause I was really bored and found this article National Parks Plan 3 Free Summer Weekends - ABC News

Intrigued, I went to the USNPS web site and got the list of what parks would be affected U.S. National Park Service Fee-Free Weekend Parks (by state)

Quote:
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced Tuesday that entrance fees at 147 national parks and monuments — including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite — will be waived on three weekends this summer. The weekends are June 20-21, July 18-19 and August 15-16.
That's this weekend! Here's another quote

Quote:
Most Americans live less than a day's drive from a national park....The waiver applies only to entrance fees and does not affect charges for camping, reservations, tours or concessions, Salazar said.

I haven't decided whether to go to Craters Of The Moon National Monument & Preserve - Craters Of The Moon National Monument & Preserve (U.S. National Park Service) or to Yellowstone National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

but I'm glad I have a little extra money to spend on the touristy things for the kidlings

I vote for Yellowstone. Never been there but one of my planned visits within the next year. Now that I live in Boise, Idaho.

I've never been to Yellowstone either. And it's really not even that far of a drive from where I live.

Do you have Summer Free Movies? Regal Cinemas offer free kid movies every tuesday and wednesday at 10AM.

Also, we have these city waterparks that are absolutely free.

I love Florida.

abcnews.com isn't so bad, I like the 'What would you do" segments. I just don't go to the TV news sites unless I've completely exhausted all the online print media.

It was fun! Buffalo (plural)!!! Coyote (singular)!!!! Geysers and geezers and lots of license plates from Florida to Alaska (but none from the Northeast, weird)!!!!! Omgosh it was so amazingly green We're going back on July 18-19 with more batteries for the camera. And the $25 I saved went for 6 ice cream cones and one stuffed wolf-cub.
