I'll try to post some information later today in the pregnancy group on induction methods that are available so you have some information.

I had my check-up today and I'm measuring "a little big". I am getting more and more nervous about the possibility of being induced. I lost 5 pounds since my last appt. but somehow my baby is gaining just fine. I'm eating more than ever - how in the heck do I keep losing? I'm now 2 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight.

Twice a week I'm supposed to have non-stress tests now and if the doctor decides to induce me at 37 weeks, we'll do amnio to see if her lungs are mature enough. My husband is freaking out at the thought of having our baby in 5 weeks. He said, "We still have to find a place to live!" We're in a two bedroom apartment and our landlord could kick us out if he decides to, but my husband needs a new job before we move and if he gets a new job, we won't have health insurance for a while unless we find a way to cough up the dough for COBRA.

AAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!

Once I got the Gestational Diabetes diagnosis, I felt like I needed to focus just on my health and our baby's health and put moving on the backburner. Too stressful. My husband is really worried about finding a better job with the economy the way it is.

Remember that you don't have to COBRA back unless you actually need the benefits. You have 90 days or something like that to COBRA, which should be more than enough time for your new benefits to kick in. So just go without for that time, and if something happens, COBRA back to get the insurance.

Thank you! Another thing to consider though is if we would have a problem with pre-existing conditions if we went without coverage briefly. Ugh. I think if you have continued coverage and you switch to another company, they continue to cover your ailment.

Oh, I meant to mention that I talked to my nurse yesterday and she reviewed my ultrasound. She said that my baby's head and tummy are a good size for delivery - she just has really long arms and legs, so her largeness isn't due to the diabetes. She's just growing well! I'm so relieved. I still might have her early, but at least I'm not worrying a lot about a c-section now.

Thank you! I'm glad things went well with your wife. It can be a pretty stressful thing to deal with.

You are welcome. Yes we were blessed with a beautiful baby boy who is 5 months old now.
Yes it was stressful, but all is good now, she did not still have the diabetes after the birth, which was a worry.
Good luck to you! I know my wife is praying for you as well as me.
