If not Skalenfehl then seek out your local stake employment rep.

In my last meeting on Sunday, I have learned one of our councilors last his city job. It is going to be a tough year and a long year for many here in the church. Hang in their dear sister and pray for your family will found another outlet for monetary needs.

Skalenfehl, as many are withdrawing their savings in preparing their homes as fortress for children coming back to live with them, food storage, and changing life style in becoming more worthy of the spirit. Something I have not seen in my days of living and do not have the experience of those who were born during the depression.

I hope you guys know how much I appreciate your prayers and kind words. Thank you!

Skal, we live in the Seattle area. Mr. MorningStar was wanting out of this job anyway, but I wish he were looking for a better one in a better market. He is sick of the dishonesty involved with his work. His friends say that commercial construction is the best environment. He's in insurance restoration where he has to deal with dishonest homeowners, dishonest insurance adjustors, and supervisors who lie to save money. Ugh! I would really appreciate any leads out there. Thank you!

My husband is unemployed as well as my brother that is living with us. These are hard economic times for a lot of people. Please know you are not alone. Hang in there.

I am 1 1/2 hours south of Seattle ... have your husband look into Cardinal Glass, they have plants all over this area. The shifts are horrible at first but you work up fast ... our bishops son went from labor to management in a matter of months and they have bennies....

It is hard here in the PNW ... I was out of work for nearly a year. I had to change what I prayed for and finally just let tyhe Lord handle it because I was not doing a great job. I started back to work in Sept. Good luck and lots of prayers and good wishes.

I know what you mean. I play by the rules while many contractors used every dirty trick in the book to get ahead. What cruel irony. I almost want to get out completely, but maybe it's just my love for the craft that keeps me hoping. Still, I'm sure the wolves lie in wait to come back out to take advantage of the rest of us.

My dear hubby is an equipment operator and our valley is dead right now... he refuses to try for union jobs given all the negatives unions get... but I think he may need to rethink that if work dosen't come to this valley soon.

I'll keep your hubby's job situation in my prayers, MorningStar. I hope he finds something better soon.

Thank you, everyone. We got our first reduced paycheck on Friday. Ouch. We're thinking of dropping our health insurance because about $150 a week is taken out of our paycheck. But to get on our state's Basic Health plan, there will probably be a 4-6 month waiting period because we'll have to wait for others to unenroll. We might be able to get our kids on earlier than that. We also qualify for WIC. Both of those require 30 days documentation to apply, so looks like we'll have to wait a month.

We met with our bishop on Sunday. That gave us a lot of hope. He says my husband's skills are so valuable. He applied for a few jobs, one of which he really wants, but the pay would be a lot lower still. The benefits would make it all worth it just to get his foot in the door with the county. It will take 4-8 weeks to hear back about that job. We're not finding a lot worth applying for and his co-worker says he's looking for something else, but everything he has applied for, they're not really hiring even though they're advertising.

We're going to the bishop's storehouse either tomorrow or the next day. That will be a great help. Our electric bill was $277! I don't get it. It was less the month before when it was so cold, we had to turn the heaters up all the way. There doesn't seem to be an end to my financial worries right now. And my husband's elbow is hurting like heck. Not a great way to start a new job.

Right now the one good financial thing we have going for us is our tax return that is supposed to be deposited into our account next Friday. We'll pay off our van and that will be one less bill every month. Hopefully it will go a long time without needing major repairs. We'll still have the truck payment to deal with.
