Friend with recurrent cancer
Hi guys. I'm just feeling really discouraged, because my friend who had cancer two years ago has seen it return with a vengeance. Two years ago he had a section of his colon removed, and we all thought two things: 1) it's unfortunate that he's so young to have to carry the "bag", and 2) he's more than lucky to be alive, though.
Three tumors (2 large, 1 small) have just been discovered in his lungs, and the doctors are saying his only option at this point is to have 60% of his lungs removed. Even so, lung cancer is, I believe, the deadliest cancer there is, with a paltry 14% 5-year survival rate.
He's asked that so far the news be kept within a few close friends, and the Pastors and Deacons at church (he's also our Children's pastor), because he and his wife need some time to deal with it before the emotional fall-out that'll follow when it is announced to the whole church. But I'm sure he wouldn't mind of some well-meaning strangers (to him) were to pray for him.
Thanks?

I'm very sorry to hear about your Pastor. Cancer is an ugly thing. Prayers his way.

Aw, dangit! I hate cancer! I was just about to post a prayer request for a friend with cancer too. I think this is his third round of fighting it. After it was declared in remission, they decided to have another baby. Then they found out it was back. He went through more chemo and then they removed whatever lymph nodes they could. Now he has an infection.
I will definitely pray for your friend. Cancer has become one of my worst fears.

Wow, that's just horrible to hear, MorningStar. Once is already more than anyone should ever have to go through. Twice is like just getting punished in life. I can't even come up with what a third round is like. I really hope he's got the grit for it again, and that and his wife will be able to be blessed with a baby when the time is finally right.
And thanks everyone for your compassion. I'm trying to see or think of what I can do to make things better/easier for him.

It's just awful when you think you have it gone and the bad news comes again. Prayers for your friend, Heavenguard and also for yours, Morningstar.
