Default Brain surgery on monday 11/23, please pray for me

Hello new friends,

I will have surgery to remove a tumor just behind my right ear canal, which is wrapped around a bunch of nerves and stuff. The surgery is scheduled for 6am Monday 11/23. I will be in the hospital for 1-3 nights and then be home recovering for 4 to 6 weeks. I would be most gratefull for your faith and prayers on behalf of my family and I as we go through this together.

Also, my 9yr old son was just baptized this past Saturday and soon the rest of my family and I will be following his great example.

I appreciate that this forum is here and will include the needs of this group in my prayers tonight too.

Thank you all for your faith, support and prayers.
Michael

You got it Michael. Please check back in with us and let us know how your surgery went and how you and your family are doing.

Congrats on your son being baptized.

It is a surface tumor?

The tumor is benign, it is not cancer and it is not life threatening. It is a lesion on or around the audio nerve just inside from the top of the ear canal. It is an irregular shape of about 3.5cm in length. It is in the cranial cavity below the brain, not actually in the brain tissue. There is a clear path through which it can be accessed and removed. The difficulty lies in the fact that it is wrapped around several nerves and must be removed very carefully. There is the possibility that I may lose my hearing completely on the right side or end up with partial facial paralysis. But if I don't get it removed then it may continue to grow and put more pressue on the nerves in that area which may eventually cause total hearing loss on that side, and/or effect balance, facial movement and swallowing.

I am confident in the abilities of the surgeon and his team who will be caring for me, and I trust in the Lord that he will bless me with his healing love. I have a wife and two small children who depend on me for their support and love. And I need to be there for him. I'm sure my work on earth is not yet finished. And yet, facing brain surgery I think is by nature a scary thing.

Thank you for your love and prayers.

Michael

You're in my prayers Michael. Congrats on your son's baptism. I know Heavenly Father loves you and your family and He will not leave you in your time of need. God bless!

I'll be praying for you. If you haven't already, please have someone put your name on the Temple prayer role.

You're in my prayers. It sounds like that tumor is around your 7th and 8th cranial nerves, which are the ones that have to do with hearing and facial muscle control.
