Default sigh- $5.00 for diesel in seattle now:(

Well I might as well toss in the towel for using my diesel truck. Getting so expensive to run it. Thankfully I drive a service van 95% of the time These fuel prices I am sure are making strugeling famillies struggle even more

My sugestion is to consider biking if you live within 30 miles. Sounds insane I know but what else is there if you cannot put food on the table?

I have been looking at the electric bike motor hubs on you tube. Blew me away how these crystalyte hubs can make a bike run up to 45 mph AND pass traffic at the same time.

What are all of you doing now to bypass petroleum?

I heard some economist this is a bubble waiting to collapse. Personally I feel the oil companies are ripping us off! I am some what insulated from it. We are a IBM and Bell subcontractor and now will be doing network upgrades for a BIG service station chain.

I'm not doing anything. I haven't changed my travels at all, even with fuel being 1.30 a litre here. I also work at a gas station, and we haven't seen our fuel sales decrease at all. In fact, they've probably gone up from last year. Unfortunately, people need to travel, and rely on their vehicles, so they just grin and bear the price increases. Okay, maybe not GRIN and bear it. they complain the first couple times they fill their vehicles and bear it, until the fuel prices increase again.

$1.50 a litre for petrol here Australia. I have a small car so it's not as bad as it is for some. The govt is talking about withdrawing their fuel tax, but I don't believe they will and it would only be a few cents off the price anyway. Predictions are forecast for $2 a litre.

Now $3.93 a gallon here in Pleasant Grove Utah. My fuel expenses were about $30 a month last year. This year they are about $80 a month.

Grocery cost are the real zinger. Nearly double if I kept my shopping the same. However, with changes in the way I shop for food my grocery costs are only about 25% more. Still thats an increase of about $80 a month.

Im thinking about dropping the cell phone, which is about $50 a month. Also, I sold some possessions and will be dropping the rental of my garage which will save another $60 a month. So, after that is done, I will be net-net from last year.

Here in Oregon...Reg gas is $4.09. I live 5 miles out of town and there is no way I could bike to town on the Hwy. I would get killed inside a month. I would bike in a heart beat if I could but just can't do that here. When we lived in town we walked to most places and so did my kids. That is the only thing we miss about living in town.
Hubby has a work truck and so when he is out and about and I need something I have him pick it on his way home. We just keep waiting for his company to cut them all back too.

We have stations still in the high $3.80's...but most are low $3.90's. (So. Georgia)
We are lucky that we do not have to travel daily.

I bought a motorcycle several years ago for my 102 mile round trip to and from work. We had a small car that got 32 mpg but the motorcycle gets 58 mpg.
Now, I'm retired and do a lot of my errands on the motorcycle. In the winter, when it's not too hot, I ride a bicycle to the store if I don't need very much stuff. We've saved a lot on gas and I'm healthier because of the bicycle.
