It came to our attention today, that the world's largest producer of storable foods, Mountain House, is currently out of stock of ALL #10 cans of freeze dried foods, not just the Turkey Tetrazzini. They will NOT have any product now through 2009.

This information was learned by a Mountain House dealer who shared it with me this morning. In personally talking with the company immediately after, Mountain House verified the information is true. Customer service stated, "I'm surprised they don't have this posted on the website yet." She said they have such a backlog of orders, Mountain House will not be taking any #10 can food requests through the remainder of this year and all of the next.

Mountain House claims this situation is due to a backlog of orders, which may very well be true, but who is purchasing all of their food? This is a massive global corporation.

One idea: the military. Things are certainly ramping up with Iran and debates abound on news segments whether or not to implement a preemptive strike in conjunction with Israel.

This guess is further underscored by our experience at the Internet Grocer. In early June we placed an order with them for Red Feather Real Canned Butter. We brought this same canned butter back with us from Australia – at about half the price. Now it's looking good at any price. It took 6 weeks for the order to arrive due to a major buyout from "the feds". Here is Internet Grocer's posted message:

We're told that the feds bought the entire container of canned butter when it hit the California docks. (Something's up!) Butter arrived first week of June. Get your Butter order in NOW to have yours set aside. We're working to fill back-orders now.

If you dig further on the Internet Grocer site, you find that the military did indeed purchase a large quantity of Mountain House foods, too. Internet Grocer however, is out of the loop on the extent of Mountain House's backlog

For the love of pete Mullenite, do you not even bother to read responses to your threads? This issue is addressed on your "feds stockpiling food" thread.

In case anyone is interested, Mountain House is not secretly helping the evil government take over the food supply. If you call Mtn House, they will tell you they've decided to end their retail outlet and only sell through distributors.

Mullenite, didn't you get yourself banned for posting a bunch of drive-by sensationalistic end-times survivalist retreat nonsense and then refuse to answer people's questions and arguements?

This is right off Mountain House' website.

Current processing time for most non-can food orders is currently taking 2-4 business days to ship.
Orders with #10 canned foods or units are taking approx. 2 to 4 weeks to ship due to EXTREMELY high customer demand, food production shortages and market volatility.

The reason for this is sales of #10 cans have continued to increase. Honestly I think there is a huge spike in sales of this kind due to more and more people wanting to become prepared in case of an emergency. I think the way the economy is going it has alot of people worried. We are moving more and more into the last days and people are now starting to see that. JMO

Survival Acres is three months behind in shipping some orders. Alpine Aire is months behind with orders. Emergency Essentials is out of stock of many of their year supplies and out-of-stock of many individual items. The loss of Mountain House will strain folks like Alpine Aire that are already behind. The storable foods business is not that big and it doesn't take many people deciding that given the economy,maybe the war with Iran, coming police state that maybe.. just maybe storing food is a good idea... The smart money is walking out of the store with the last of the storable food...

Dang, mullenite, you really do need to learn how to use quotes and cite sources. It's really not that hard - just say something like "Here's an article I got from infowars.com", then add the link.

It might help to mention the year. You originaly claim it's a "coming police state". Then you claim it's here. HR3162 was the Patriot act, passed in 2001.

It is now 2008. We do not live in a police state. You are (once again) wrong in your end-times sensationalist x-files-esque tinfiol hat nonsense.

If #10 cans are so hard to get, how come the local LDS Cannery seems to have plenty of them???
