I just read a bunch of info on H1N1 that shows all is not as it seems with what the media and popular sources are telling us about this. Try doing a google search on H1N1 or H1N1 forced vaccinations to get further information on it before making your plan.

None of these answers are answering the question of the OP.

Im, hi!

OK, we don't have a ward flu pandemic plan that I know of, but there is a city plan. Basically they mailed out a newsletter to all residents regarding ways to prepare, and orders to stay home if there is widespread panic. We are supposed to gather enough food and water to keep ourselves going if we have to stay home, and if the grocery trucks quit running. I think Mormons should be doing pretty well at this point...lol

I believe the the emergency preparedness manual has an outline. I don't have mine in front of me or I would look it up. I'll try to remember when I get home.

I believe that if you look at the Health and Human Services website (or maybe it is Homeland Security, can't remember) there are some excellent guidelines for setting up a pandemic plan, no matter the disease. I have read several good articles recently about having at least 2 weeks worth of food so that you can eat without going out, etc. Quarantining people in your own home to lessen the possibility of spreading the virus, etc.

It would be as good a place as any to start. And of course, we have the additional resources of HT/VT, etc., where we can keep track of our members.

Good luck.

One thing that could work is to strongly encourage anyone with flu like symptoms to stay home from church. It's not a sin to miss 1 or more Sundays because of having the flu, as it's better than passing it on to someone in the congregation who is vulnerable to complications from H1N1. All I know is that at work, people are told that if they have any symptoms, to call in sick and don't return until at least 24 hours have passed since the fever has gone away. Vaccines were recommended, but are STRICTLY voluntary.

My sister has the swine flu and they wanted to put her into the hospital. She refused because she wants to go to our mom's funeral Tues. Drs. said she could go if she wore rubber gloves and a surgical mask and no way could she touch or hug someone. It can be a nasty piece of business.
