California Constitutional Convention - Keep an Eye on This

Calls seem to be slowly building for California to have a constitutional convention in order to fix what some see as problems in the state's current governing structure that cannot help but lead to financial difficulties. See, e.g., here.

That may ultimately be necessary, but Californians may want to bear in mind that such a convention could--and, given the likely membership of said convention, probably would--not only remove Prop 8 from the CA constitution; but also make it far more difficult for a similar amendment to be made in the future.

People with strong feelings about Prop 8--either positive or negative--will want to watch this one carefully.

It is a growing concerned for the 'ill willed' souls who voices are a minority one always seeking to push their own agenda vice the majority voice. As I do concur with President Packer outlook for the next few years, it will grow worse as the darkened clouds will surround this nation and the minions of Lucifer will reign over the lives of those who oppose the servants of the Lord. In the end, they will be removed for the good of the FATHER and HIS Son, in answering the prayers of the righteous.

I'm personally for this convention, even if it's made up of a lot of people I typically don't agree with.

I've always been of the opinion that democracy doesn't make something automatically right, and I don't think the government should have anything to do with marriage nor should marriage come to a vote.

For Californians who may not know, this is where you will find personal agendas from those who are considered the minorities of the state, placed them before the attendees seeking a passage of such. Frightening as it is, I whole heartedly agree with your statement. '...democracy doesn't make something automatically right.' This maybe a convention where it will not serve the greater public. Nor being a politician, would always served the interest of the voters.

Yeah, I mean democracy is in much of the middle east, and see what happens with it there. Democracy needs to be built upon society that values well, freedom and individual dignity, or else its just going to produce a lot well, nasty stuff. There's parts in the US that would vote to re institute racial segregation if given the vote.
