Lightbulb Hen/Doe Party Ideas? =/

Hi ladies,

I'm not sure if this goes here, so feel free to move it.

I've been pondering what to do for my hen party. All the ideas that keep floating around involve mass amounts of alcohol and sexual innuendo. Now, in fairness I am inactive at the moment; but am trying to get back into the swing of things church wise.

And I was wondering what on earth to do for my hen party. None of the people who will be attending are members, neither do they fully understand my beliefs. I need an idea for something low budget to do that won't bore my non member friends to tears.

Any ideas welcome! We've got plenty of time; I'm not getting married until May 2010.

Chelsea-Marie

What's a hen/doe party?

Another name for a bachleor party is a stag party, so in keeping with the theme of animal names I'm guessing a doe party is a bachleorette party.

I recommend explaining your standards before hand, that way you don't encounter the situation of one of your friends ordering a male stripper, bringing Jello shots or what have you. As far as fun ideas, I'm not sure I could come up with a fun bachleor party, have no clue how to approach a bachleorette party.

Yeah, a bachleorette party

My friends know that I don't drink/smoke yada yada yada, and that I will be abstaining from sex before the wedding (LoC etc.) So that much shouldn't be a problem. I just don't want them to think i'm a boring prude since joining the church. I want to show them that it can still be fun without alcohol -gulps-

Well, I don't know what is done in the UK, but in the US, they play silly games. For example, everyone breaks up into groups (even numbers), given a lot of toilet paper and the one group who makes the best wedding dress from the toilet paper wins a gift (usually some nice smelling soap or something).

I found a website for bridal showers (hen party). Look here for some ideas of games. I haven't looked at this site, but just googled "bridal shower games."

Snort Pixie sticks?

People vary but surely there is something you find enjoyable (as a group) that is acceptable even if it isj ust watching Hugh Grant chick flicks and eating bon bons (how's that for a stereotype!). Me I'd pick movies with lots of explosions, but then I'm probably the last person who'd be invited to a doe party.

Just make it a fun night with the gals doing what you find fun, if it means playing lazertag or board games who cares? (Just don't play bored games, that could be bad).

Edit: To slow, and strangely not feeling as out of place as I probably should.

Haha! I love the stereotype!

I'm sure I'll figure something out. I guess its just a weird one. I never envisioned I'd be t-total etc. before I got married. So I always just planned on a night out partying; that doesn't seem all too realistic these days. And because of the way I was brought up; I either went out partying, out on dates or stayed home with the family. So I'm not very good with activities for groups of giggling teenage/20 something girls!

I just figured someone on here would have some ideas, surely the married women have done this before?! :/

How big a group are we talking about? It makes a difference.

One party game I enjoyed was called "What if?"

The premise is simple. Everyone takes a piece of paper and writes a what if question, for instance:

Example 1:

What if what ever you touched turned to chocolate?

Example 2:

What if you were a zombie?

They then fold them in half and put them in a jar or bucket, the papers are then mixed up and passed around, and people answer the ones they recieve. So you'd get something like:

Answer to Example 1:

I'd be very fat.

Answer to Example 2:

I'd lay waste to all before me.

You then have everyone sit in a circle (or have them sit before this point), mix them up again and have one person read the question on the piece of paper they have, the person next to them then reads the answers to the question they have. Then you alternate until you make your way around the room. You get all sorts of fun wacky stuff. So using the examples I've provided:

Person 1 (reading the question on their slip of paper): What if you were a zombie?
Person 2 (reading the answer on their slip of paper): I would be fat.
Person 2 (reading the question on their slip of paper): What if what ever you touched turned to chocolate?
Person 3 (reading answer on their slip of paper): *answer*
Person 3 (Reading question): *question*
Person 4: *answer*

You then continue around the circle until the person on the other side of the Person 1 reads their question and then Person 1 reads their answer (I would lay waste to all that was before me in response to what ever the question is Person X had).

I'm probably not explaining it very well but after the first round people get the gist of it and write the wackiest answers and questions they can think of the maximize the humor value. You may need to caution to keep it clean but it is a hoot, a lot more fun then I'm probably making it sound.

There, now you know at least one party game.

Dravin, should I ever have to plan a bridal shower etc; I'll hire you as the party planner.

Add that to the list of statements I never imagined would be directed at me...
