hey, i have been off the site for a while, and want to reconect. after a long decline, my mother died last week tuesday.she was able to go as she wished, quietly at home. we spent the last year and a half together, i cared for her so she could remain at home. during this time, i compiled with her recolections and some other elderly relations memorys a collection of family stories. it was a priceless time, she could relive the events and revisit her growing up, and now there is a book going back several generations to help my grandchildren know them.her sight had mostly failed for several years, and i was able to read the book of mormon and most of the d&c before she got too weak to follow what was being said.she joined the church later in life, and even tough my parents were able to be sealed in the temple, she hadnt ever just read and studied the scriptures. it was such a delight to see her understand the concepts of the gospel clearer through the lives of the prophets. she was able to release the fear of death, which had always been a fear of the unknown, and prepare to see her loved ones again. tuesday, as she sliped closer to the next world, we held her hand and reasured her. she had been unable to respond for several hours. she sudenly opened her eyes, looking upward, and reached out her hand to someone, with a look of surprise and wonder she died. this has been a long journey for me, i took care of my friend who had cancer for over a year before she died , then two months later my dads stage four b lung cancerwas diagnosed, and i continued to work and help care for him till he died, and had to leave work for my mothers care. what the next stage of my journey has in store, i dont know. i have a feeling of peace. i hope that this is an ok place to speak, i didnt know which area to post in.

aisling; How thankful those loved ones you cared for must have felt. To be able to give of yourself, to be of service at a time in their lives when they needed you. And what a blessing for you, to get to spend time with them, and to ease their way.
