My ward had some great mutual activities.

We played Battleship with the volleyball net. The adults hung sheets on the net so that the teams couldn't see each other. Then everyone sat down or lay down. The adults would then ask questions about the BOM, etc and whoever got it right got 3 tennis balls, which they would toss over the net to try and hit the other team. After that game was over, we played volleyball with the sheets still on. It was really fun.

We had Iron Chef. The boys were on one team and the girls were on the other. We'd receive a recipe (ex. creampuffs) and then after we had made the food the adults would judge it and declare a winner.

The girls made/decorated recipe books with dividers and everything. (a lot like scrapbooking)

Some Ideas: Find women in the Ward that have a certain skill like sewing, scrapbooking, cooking/baking, gardening, or really anything, and have them come teach the young women. The same could be done with the young men. (Woodwork, wilderness survival, etc) Maybe have a "Teaching Activity" once a month. This would be great for reaching out to inactive adults if they know how to do something interesting.

Our YW also went on walks sometimes. They would go to the local school and walk around on the track and around the fields.

Oh, I thought of another. A while ago, our Bishop's wife had just had twins and the girls all went over and helped take care of the babies. Learning+Service!

Speaking of teaching activities, why not give the young men cooking lessons or teach young women to do minor basic repairs? You know, the kinds of life skills both sexes need.

I understand my BIL was very popular with missionary companions because he's a pretty good cook.

One activity that we did just last week was we made mirrors with temples painted on them so we could 'see ourselves in the temple.' It was a cool idea.

Back when i was active. I used to like doing fun things at mutual. Rather than doing the duty to god stuff.

I used to always moan that Seminary should be educational. Mutual should be fun.

Before I started going to mutual I heard our ward did a mystery dinner night which sounded really fun to me. In a couple weeks we're having some people come in to teach the priests and laurels social ballroom dancing

Ever seen "Amazing Race"?

Pair up YM/YW. Have them travel, by various methods, to other members' houses. (this requires prior coordination and enlistment of those members).

Use the same themes, such as road blocks and detours (a road-block is something only one team member can complete, a detour provides a choice of two tasks that the team may choose to complete.)

An example road-block could be have the YW demonstrate how to tie a Neck-Tie. Have the YM prepare and bake a pan of brownies or cookies. (Ok, in the race, the team chooses who completes the task. In this case, you could specify who had to complete them.)

An example detour may be to watch or collect. Spend time watching a designated Fireside talk or some other useful video that takes a while....or......collect a pre-determined amount of canned food donations from neighbors in the area (scavenger hunt style). The team chooses which task to complete.

End at a predetermined location. Enjoy any goodies you created along the way. Collect canned goods for donation to food stores/church welfare.

Use your imagination for any deviations. Possibilities are endless. It could also be a continuing competition. Teams finishing first get a slight head-start next time.

It could be time-consuming. Plan carefully.
