So basically what it is, is that I just got my license about a month and a half ago, and my parents are really protective about where I go. So far all the places I've been able to go have been like really local stores, and my friends houses. How do I get them to trust me more and let me go places that are farther away?

It is known that there is an infinite number of worlds, but that not every one is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so if every planet in the Universe has a population of zero then the entire population of the Universe must also be zero, and any people you may actually meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination. ~Douglas Adams, The Original Hitchhiker Radio Script

you just need to build the trust base. it's a s simple as that. if you spend this time going places short distances, and telling them where you'll be and being there and getting back on time, there will be tons more trust. and they'll ask fewer questions and you'll be able to go farther places with more trust.

If you have your own car and your own gas, they really can't stop you from going anywhere. But if you go to Vegas for the weekend at least call them when you get there.

I don't think it's them not being able to do something about it; more so he wants them to do something- trust him to drive places.. Going somewhere like Vegas would probably destroy trust rather than build it.

I know how you feel. At least you have your license, I'm taking Driver's Ed right now and it is sooooo boring. I agree with Mormon Jake, there's not that many places to go. Hey, look at it this way, at least you don't have to bum rides off of everyone else anymore.

Franken, Deep had the right answer. Build the trust. Make sure when you go somewhere that you always go just there and return on time. If there is a delay then let them know before you're late what the delay is. An extra step that might build that trust even faster, although it may begin to annoy your parents, is to check in more often than required. For example, once you get to the grocery store call your parents and let them know you've just arrived and are about to start shopping. Once you finish shopping call them and let them know you're about to leave and you'll see them in a few minutes. Yes, its probably overkill but you're parents will remember the effort. At some point they'll tell you you don't have to call so often - they'll probably tell you to quit bothering them so often. Then you dial it down a notch and only call this often on every other trip.

I think back when I first got my licience....all I did was drive to school and back....and to the nearest store....

Oh yeah....and Friday nights....me and my friends hung out and dragged state street for hours.....LOL VERY DANGEROUS THAT WAS!!!!

Believe me....the less complicated you want your life to be....the less you will ask to drive the car....
