Lightbulb The pursuit of Knowledge.

I enjoy learning about the world, the universe, cultures, technology, biology, and etc... so I thought i'd like to start a thread for people to share any videos that they come across that has helped them to understand some aspect of our world, environment, existance, and/or universe better.. or has helped improve their lives in some manner.

To start out I'd like to share a link to a NOVA program i just came across today at hulu.com:
The Bible's Buried Secrets
afterwhich viewing the introduction, would seem to be relevant to this site .

Anyways I look forward to what people have to share, and i'm off to finish the above-mentioned program.

Edit: after watching not a ton of new things that I didn't know about before, but there were a few.
I also find the biases in the program to be interesting.

Another one i found interesting- the NSA's actions before and during the 9/11 event;
The Spy Factory

If any of this is true their lack of action is apalling.

I'll play...

But not videos. Just eye-opening stuff... okay, there's a video on the link but it's not really the point of the article.
→ Venomous Snakes - bites, ecology, bite treatment, pictures and videos
Just an excerpt:
Quote:
When compared to the number of people killed by lightning each year, which from 1959 to 1994 was 0.42 people per million (Curran et al., 1994)5, the injuries caused by snakes do not seem to be as major of a problem as people think.

The reason I put this under the Pursuit of Knowledge is because majority of the people I come in contact with would immediately go for a shovel/shotgun to chop a snake's head off when they see one. These same people would see a stray dog/cat or squirrels or raccoons and they don't run for the shovel.

We have 7 pet snakes and my own mother refuses to set foot in my house because of such "evil". And she is expecting the news that one of our kids got eaten by our snake...

This one is a fun one to watch, it's about Ice cream.. probably the only thing better would be to take a tour of an Ice creamplant in person (which is fun to do)

Modern Marvels: Ice Cream

And I love this show, having an interest in WWII history as well as Aviation:
(there are some really amazing accounts in these)

P-51 Mustang
P-47 Thunderbolt

and finally a fun useful pice of info:
How to fold a T-shirt in 2 seconds

It's been awhile since i've watched anything that i've felt i should stick here.. but i saw this and i thought it warranted a post:

Quest for Solomon's Mines
This one basically provides some potential strong evidence for Israel as an advanced kingdom.

Smile Here's a good one (and kinda short)

Jill Bolte Taylor's 'stroke' of insight. Jill Bolte Taylor's stroke of insight | Video on TED.com

Would-be mystics all over the world sit around contemplating their navels in an effort to squelch their left-brain processing, in pursuit of such an experience.
