New member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since October 21, 2007. I have served as Library Assistant until I was recently called as Second Counsler to the Relief Society President in our Ward. I could use some fresh ideas for enrichment meetings. Our next enrichment gathering is dealing with preparedness and 72 hour kits. If you have any ideas, send them my way.

Thanks for your welcoming comment. I also have a yellow lab named Dallas. I have one child 33 years old and 3 grandchildren. Sounds like you have a busy household. Here in Kentucky it is just my husband and I in a small house in the country. We were both baptized on October 21st 2007 and are growing by leaps and bounds. I have recievied a calling as 2nd counseler to the Relief Society President. My immediate task is to get ready for an enrichment night where I will be responsible for teaching about 72 hour preparedness kits. Do you have nay ideas for me?

Wow, being alone with my husband in a small house in the country sounds really good about now!  lol  Congratulations on your baptism, and on being thrown right into "the fire" with your calling as Relief Society counselor.

I made 72 hour kits for my kids one year for Christmas, and they keep them in their car because we are always on the go.  Perhaps you could do some sort of Christmas in July theme and present the idea of them as gifts that can be started now and filled for the next six months to be given to their loved ones at Christmas.  Those kits can be costly, so buying a little at a time might be a great suggestion.  You could have them buy something each week, by giving them a schedule of items to look for, and even have them let others know if there is anything on sale etc.  Sort of an ongoing project.  Just an idea!

Good luck, whatever you do will be great because it is following the suggestion of our leaders to be prepared.

Again, welcome to the site.
