Littleheroesmom,I believe your right on target with your view of teaching by example,as well as doctrine. As a newfounded member of the LDS church,I believe it is of utmost importance to not forgo or forsake obedience to the principals of doctrine and covenants, for by my personal experience of doing so in past times has blinded my eyes to certain revelation knowledge as set down from the prophet as to the reason and motives of following those principals: Such as smoking or drinking coffee, has caused a hinderance of spiritual perception when I have done so.This has been for me a road of trial and error, but for those raised with the full gospel as set down by God through the prophets it is an established way home that needs not be through unneeded and unwanted trial and error;not that there will not be hardship, but certainly that hardship of my own making could have been avoided had obedience to the full gospel been realized years ago;But it is my hope that my experiences of the embarrasment of retardation of spirit through trial and error might be avoided by my future children, and those who may partake of my personal testimonies.Amen!

Why do you think you struggle with acceptance among your fellow members?

Lack of trust,It goes much deeper than that, but the bottom line is lack of trust in my motives and reasons;which comes from those in the general assembly, not so much of the bishopric. For I believe that those of the bishopric are of spiritual discernment to a greater extent than the general assembly,Amen!

As i read the comment of mgdl1943. Remember that before country, family,or friends,it has to be God first, although there is nothing wrong with friends and family,as well as country love, loyalty is first to God,and His ways, for they are set down for His good will for those who love Him,and those who are still to come to that love, and those who are still progressing in that love.

I have been recently made aware of my membership as mormon.I was baptized  when I was 9 years old,and I have been affiliated with many other christian denominations since that time.I am now 44 years old.But what is more important is that for the past 6or 7 years I have studied the bible and recieved, through the holy ghost, the word of God that has led me back to the full gospel of truth,in the LDS church and its order and ordinations, yet I still struggle with the inacceptance, from members of the church, and as of yet have not recieved even a temple reccommend, although my greatest desire is to maintain and increase in the peace and joy of the lord, which i know will come through temple work.
