There are some people I know or have known, that try and say our Heavenly Father is a mean or evil God. How could he order Israel to kill all the inhabitants of the Land of Canaan. How could he flood the world and almost wipe out mankind? How could he sacrifice he Only Begotten Son?
Many see these acts as evil or something a God with infinite could never do, I beg to differ.
We are God's spirit children and he is our Father. Father's must discipline there children when they are doing wrong and this is no different for our Heavenly Father. Unlike our mortal Father though our Heavenly Father is perfect and nothing unclean can be in his presence.
When we transgress his laws we are deserving of his righteous wrath but in his infinite love he provides a plan of salvation for us. He shows great patience like any Father does with there children, he send's his prophets to teach us the errors of our ways and call us to repentance. He established the one faith through his Only Begotten Son, our eldest spirit brother Jehovah, who came to the Earth and is Jesus Christ!
We bring our just punishments upon ourselves but in his great love for us and his desire to see all his children become like him. He sent his Only Begotten in the Flesh and Firstborn in the Spirit, to pay for our spiritual debt and enable his mercy.
We know that all except those who reject the Holy Ghost shall inherit some glory in his Kingdom. How much more love can we expect from one who is perfect to show to us who are all imperfect and sinful by nature?
I am so grateful for the mercy of our Father in Heaven, and for the atonement of Jesus Christ for my salvation. I am grateful that God showed mercy to his children by restoring the fullness of the Gospel to the Earth in the latter days through the Prophet Joseph Smith, just as the Prophets of Old foretold!
I am thankful for the Holy Ghost which testified of the truth of the Restored Gospel to my 6 years ago in Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. In all things I am grateful to be a child of God and to have this opportunity to prove my worth to him and continue to progress spiritually from grace to grace!
Only a loving God would do all this, and I testify that our God is just that a loving God. He seeks to raise us all to the exaltation as joint heirs and gods, so we can rejoice together for eternity! I leave this with you in the name of the our Savior, Jesus Christ. AMEN!
