Written statements of faith:

I hope that what I am about to write will touch the hearts of at least one person and make a difference in their lives. I am not good at speaking publicly, I get terribly nervous and can't say what I really want to, so this is the perfect place for me to share my real thoughts.

There have been too many instances in my life where I have been touched by the spirit and had it testified to me of the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. One of the strongest I can remember was when I was a young single adult and I was participating in a musical fireside about Christ. I went home afterwards on a spiritual high like no other I've felt, and knew for a surety that Jesus really is the Christ, the Son of God, and that he atoned and died for us, so that we can have the opportunity to return to live with our Heavenly Father again oneday, if we are faithful.

I also feel it very strongly when I watch videos made by the church. If any of you haven't seen "The Testaments" video about Christ, I highly recommend it. We received it as a christmas present this year and it makes me cry it touches me so much. And for those of you that have seen it, I hope that one day Christ will call me by my name and look at me as lovingly as he did to the old man at the end of the video.

There are so many things that prove there is a God. The wonder of the human body and the beautiful world we live in. These could not possibly be here by accident. And when you think about it, everything we do has a purpose behind it, so why would life on this earth not have a wonderful purpose behind it too.

I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of the Lord. He went through so many trials, that if he were making it up, he would not have stuck it out the way he did, he would have given up. And I also use to get those same stirings from the spirit when our beloved late prophet Gordon B. Hinckley use to speak to us. I know that President Monson will be the same.

I don't know how some people can believe that there is no life after death, and that our spirits don't continue on. I have had several close family members pass on to the other side in the last few years, and I know that there is a life after this one. I look forward to the day when I will be reunited with them again.

If you are investigating the church, or doubting its beliefs, my suggestion to you is to study the Book of Mormon. I know you will feel the spirit of its truthfulness and of this church if you read from it. Perhaps you have people trying to convince you it is wrong. I have had this experience before, and it is hard. The thing that carried me through was going to Institute every week. Even people with strong testimonies must work at keeping them this way by having some kind of spiritual upliftment often. Satan is always working hard to drag us down. But we have God on our side, and he is more powerful, so pray to him for strength.

In closing, never forget that you are a child of God, that he loves you, and that he is always there for you, no matter what. All you need to do is pray.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
