SUBJECT: The Sum of My Joy
LOCATION: Oklahoma City, United States
It was only a short time ago that I first sat down with the elders for a home teaching visit. I would have once called it happenstance but now I know better. I had met them when they came to visit a roommate of mine who hid in the house and had asked me to ditch them for him. I took the opportunity to ask them about the location of the nearest meeting house. I'm sure they thought I was only trying to put them off when I told them how I had been visiting various churches, trying to find a spiritual home, and I would come sit in on a sacrament meeting but I couldn't sit with them right then. They left me a small booklet and a Book of Mormon. I know they were surprised to see me two Sundays later walking in the door because they said as much. I sat and listened that Sunday and went home and did exactly what the booklet I had read, suggested I do. I prayed to God for some kind of sign as to the truth of what I had read and heard. Immediately, I received what I now know was the Holy Spirit flowing through me filling me with a feeling beyond description. I began meeting with the elders and only five weeks later, I was privileged to be baptised and confirmed. Any words I may use would fail to describe the beauty, joy, and peace that I have experienced since I repented and devoted my life to the service of our Heavenly Father. I know that Joesph Smith was visited by Father and Jesus, I know that he was called to be a prophet and to deliver back into the world, the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints is the true church. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior and that because of what he did, I can hope to stand again in the presence of our Heavenly Father. I know that the church today is led by a prophet who receives guidance from God. I know these things because I have been shown the truth through the the Holy Spirit. I am now learning the full gospel through my own studies and the help of several people that I have met in the church. It has been the most marvelous time of my life and the feeling that I have now is ineffable and all the glory and the praise goes to our Heavenly Father who has blessed me so...
