SUBJECT: Children who die
LOCATION: Portland, Oregon, United States
Today I taught the lesson in Elders Quorum. The topic was on death. One of the things we talked about in the lesson was what happens to children when they die. This hits close to home with me because in 2000 my nephew, Cameron, died when he was only 5 months old of heart problems. The day after Cameron died I was thinking about him and the Spirit told me, "He is okay. He is with me right now and I will take care of him." This comforted me a lot. I was only 11 at the time. I know that children are perfect in the eyes of our Heavenly Father and they do not need baptism. Children cannot sin nor repent so why would they need to be baptized? If they die before they are eight years old (age of accountability), they will go straight to the Celestial Kingdom. Parents of those children will be able to raise them in the next life just as if they would have here on earth. I think this idea is a big comfort to parents in the church that know this. I miss Cameron so much but I know he only needed to come to the earth to receive a body then return to Heavenly Father again. I will see him again and all family members who go on before me.
