I have grown up in the church but can't say I was ever completely converted or had a testimony about everything the church teaches. Over the years I have developed a testimony of prayer, tithing, and the Prophet Joseph Smith. Although these things are not tangible to some, they are to me. Sometimes, it is those things that I can draw strength from when I allow myself that privelege. I can be hard headed and maybe that is why sometimes, the still small voice isn't so small but screams at me the things I need to know or warnings.
I believe that humor is absolutely necessary in just about every aspect of my life. I am prone to discouragement, negativity, self doubt, and so on. If I can stay smiling and able to see the humorous things in life then I can keep the darkness away. A woman needs a sense of humor when it comes to raising children and marriage. Without a sense of humor we can lose our sense of sanity and then how will we be able to know which voices are just in our heads and which ones are coming from a more spiritual nature?
My husband is not a member and he was shown, "The Godmakers" at his church before we were married. He had been exposed to so much against the Mormon church. We often argued about religions and I was resentful. I, soon realized that the Gospel can serve no purpose if contention is there. I made myself quit being so defensive and I learned to respect his views. We even got to where we teased each other about it. I made the comment once that I had nothing against Baptists, "I think all Mormons should own one." He laughed about that but we have come to where we agree to disagree. That is all I can do. He supports me in going to church and has allowed our children to be baptised. I can't convert my husband only the spirit can do that.
