I am me. There are many, many different aspects to me. Someone once told me I was a mass of contradictions. I still haven't figured out exactly what they meant or if that is supposed to be a good thing! I have a wide variety of interests in all sorts of things including music, books, activities, travel and so on.

Okay, now it's my turn to look over your profile...

You list more languages than me, more books than me, more movies than me, more bands than me...I'm seeing a trend here... :)

I like all the books you listed, and would add The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene as well as the physics books of Isaac Asimov. He is a ridiculously good writer with an excellent sense of humor to boot.

I also like all the bands in your list that I recognize except The Mars Volta. Maybe it was an off night, but they opened for The Foo Fighters at a concert I attended...let me be diplomatic and say it wasn't the best live performance I'd seen.

Movies I'd also add Silverado, Tombstone, Saving Private Ryan, Apocalypse Now, UHF, Police Squad, Spy Hard, I Robot....

All in all...I am now equipped with a list of things/movies/books/bands that I need to get familiar with.

*and here I thought I'd be done with homework by now...*

First, let me say that I love your handle here...RipplecutBuddha.  That's just awesome.  Secondly, let me say that Dream Theater rocks!! Jordan Rudess is amazing!  Liquid Tension Expirement is one of my favorite CDs ever.  And thirdly Rosencrantz and Guildenstern is a genuis movie.

P.S.  Glad I make you have to think

Yeah, DT is great, 'An Evening With John Pettrucci and Jordan Rudess' is my current fave, I'm glad you could spell the name of that movie right because I never had a chance, and my handle comes from an old David Letterman show where he made fun of bans with odd names like Blind Melon. He made up the name Ripplecut Buddha with a pair of dice with random words on them, then announced that they would end the show that night. I've used it online a lot.

Oh, and I need to update my info. I didn't realize it until I checked your message on my phone and saw it was wrong, so thanks for brining it to my attention, albeit by accident.  Now, back to the question game...

Dangit you're making me think...I'm supposed to be good at this.  There's a movie where two characters play this game formatted as a tennis match. I was pretty good at it. (gotta get the rust offa my brain)

I want to learn Russian, that's were my grandmother was from.  She left in around 1917 during the revolution.  She and her sister went by foot into Mongolia.  Her sister married a man there and my Aunt was born.  He died so they moved onto China.  My grandfather was stationed there, he was with the US Army.  They married, mom mother was born there and they all came to the states I think in the 1940's.  So, I want to go and look for family.  I have locations and names but the government has changed things so much.

Organic gardening . .  yes.  I have 2 1/2 acres at the University were I am conducting a test project, "Organic Gardening for Local Market".  I can grow whatever I want, as long as it is organic.  I was raised on a farm in PA so it's like growing up all over.  I had no idea what organic gardening required but agreed to this because I knew it would be something I could use for my family.  I do have a blog, www,macorganic.blogspot.com if you want to check it out.  I haven't had time to update it for a month or so, and the white fly is killing me right now, sucking the life out of everything but the corn.  Next week I plant the carrots, lettuce and such.   I'm working on another idea to fight off the white fly, something that will last more than 24 hours, nicotine!  But, if I don't have the right amount, to little does no good, to much and everything taste like an ashtray . . .

Anyway, welcome to the site.  enjoy things and DON'T get caught in some of the "heavy thinkers" blogs here!!

Hey! Thanks a lot for sending me an add! Great to have you as a new friend :)  Are you learning Russian? I'm about to attempt Swedish and Mongolian.  Yikes.  I saw you are into organic farming too.  Pretty cool, I started looking into that more and more over the last few months as well.  Take care!

Thank you very much, it's great to be here.  Beautiful picture of the Euphrates river by the way.  How long were you over there for? Thanks for serving.

I was there for most of 2004. A lot of Iraq looks like a dump, but the Babylon area is absolutely gorgeous!
