The Amistad

Recently in my American Government and Society class, we had the privilege to watch an edited version of the movie The Amistad. We have been studying the formation of the American Nation with a heavy emphasis on slavery and the role it played in that creation. The Old Testament and Restoration Exodus

The Exodus story is one of the most iconic journeys in recorded history. The Children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt under Pharaoh. They were then led by Moses through the Red Sea to Sinai, where they received the Law of Moses. After they received the law, they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years led by the Holy Spirit until they crossed the River Jordan into the Promised Land.

My Mom

So my mom told me the other day she was coming to stay with me for 2 weeks. She hasn't lived with me in almost 2 years, well her and her bf broke up. She's decided to move to Texas to live with a friend of hers. I know when she lives it'll hurt just like last time, and the time before that, and the time before that. I'll end up crying my eyes out and not talking to anyone for days. I've been there and back a few times. I know that I have God to lean on and to comfort me....but it still hurts... Read More



Old Testament Exodus vs. Restoration Exodus

The early saints of the Church went through a physical Exodus similar to the Old Testament Exodus. The comparison of the two is remarkable. Joseph Smith restored the Gospel and the Church originated in New York. The saints were then commanded by the Lord to leave New York. Over many years the saints had to travel and gather in Ohio, Missouri, and would later venture across the country to the west and settle in Utah.
