Good News...

Good News! I'm alive! Just as I began my last lap around the Rec. Center track Chariots of Fire began. Being highly unsuperstitious, I quickly skipped it. I had to--I was being followed by a sleek, speedy woman pushing a fully loaded double stroller! No way was I going to jinx myself and get run over by THAT! (Oh, and putting on some speed helped too!) Superstitious? Not Me!

I'm not superstitious. Not me! I just added Chariots of Fire to my iPod shuffle. I'm going running! Therefore, I've devised a new senario to my ultimate demise:

I'll be running up one of my favorite roads in my home village listening to my iPod. I'll be at about 2 1/2 miles out--a great point in my run--listening to Fast Cars and Freedom (my favorite line: You don't look a day over fast cars and freedom). Pick Your State Mormons

I don't have anything profound today, so I'll just ramble. I have a friend from California. She's been here in Utah for about 3 years now. For quite a while she really griped about "Utah Mormons." I'd been pretty tame and never said anything about transplants to Utah, especially from CA, in return. But one day, after a lot of complaining and comparing, I couldn't keep quiet any longer. Death

Do you ever think about death? Every once in a while it dominates my thoughts. Lately it's surfaced quite a few times. Several years ago I outlined for my family my perfect scenario for my demise. Here are the details: I'm driving my pickup truck down a canyon during a spectacular rainstorm. A bolt of lightning hits a pine tree and it crashes down on me while Chariots of Fire is playing on the radio or CD player. That's it! I die! It's all over! And I was doing what I loved... Read More
