If our families, or others with whom we should ideally be united, seek to destroy us -- we can put away our desire and ability to destroy them in return.  We can know, then, that God judges us clean and He will save us, at least spiritually even if we must continue in the mortal trial of it for a time.

(BTW, this is not advice to be a doormat.  We can always act to protect ourselves in all dangerous situations, including and especially familial ones.)
