The Race
Posted On 02/20/2008 09:29:45 by checkerboy
Whenever I start to hang my head in front of failure’s face,
my downward fall is broken by the memory of a race.
A children’s race, young boys, young men; how I remember well,
excitement sure, but also fear, it wasn’t hard to tell.
They all lined up so full of hope, each thought to win that race
or tie for first, or if not that, at least take second place.
Their parents watched from off the side, each cheering... Read More

When you believe
Posted On 02/18/2008 10:22:43 by Aurorasungem
I recently was thinking back on a song called when you believe.  I love that song.  The main theme is that there can be miracles when you believe.  That is such a true message in life.  Maybe things will not always go as planned, maybe the darkness will fall in life, death will come, tears will fall, wars may ensue, natural disasters happen, but there will always be one thing that no one can ever take away.  That is the message that God is watching over all, and there ca... The Parable of the Popping Corn
Posted On 02/07/2008 11:42:08 by checkerboy
Behold, at the time of harvest, the ears of corn did bring forth kernels, which were dried and prepared for the popper's hand. And then it was that the popper did take the kernels, all of which did appear alike unto him, and did apply the oil and the heat.

And lo, it came to pass that when the heat was on, some did explode with promise and did magnify themselves an hundred fold, and some did burst forth with whiteness that did both gladden the eye and satisfy the taste of the popper. And... Read More

Lessons from the back woods
Posted On 02/05/2008 10:24:07 by Aurorasungem
I decided to start a new series of blogs on lessons from the little things. There are so many huge problems out there, that people seldom get to see the little things that are good and uplifting around them. When i was little, my dad would often take me out fishing, or out for one of his rides and hikes out in the country and we would sit and talk about the wonderful little things that God has provided around us. He always said that there is not one thing on this earth that we cannot learn somet... Read More
