I read one of my friend's blogs that he posted early in February on temples and the sealing power (http://nick-nt.blogspot.com/2009/02/sealing-power.html). While reading about Nick's comments about the temple, the first thing that came to mind was the Oakland temple, the closest temple to my hometown in California. I love going to the temple. It is the House of the Lord and I always feel so peaceful and close to the Spirit when I am there. As of now, the only ordinances I can perform there is baptisms and conformations for the dead. But that is one of the first steps to salvation. I am going to make this short and sweet; I've been writing all day. I've been reading the really long section 124 in the Doctrine and Covenants over the last week. In this revelation, the Lord is commanding that the Saints build a temple. The temple is a place where the Saints can make covenants and receive further revelation. I was recently inspired to study symbolism in the gospel. There is so much of it that is obvious, like Christ being a shepherd. But I have been pondering lately about the significance of numbers. We see numbers like 7, 40, and 12 most often, though there are other commonly found numbers in scriptures.
