Pioneer Trek
Posted On 07/21/2008 15:33:21 by SimplifyHeartAndHome
My 14 yr. old daughter is going on a Pioneer Trek tomorrow with several hundred youth and leaders from the church.  They will take 3 days to trace a 20-mile segment of the journey that the early Mormon Pioneers trod.  It has been counselled that each youth bring a back pack weighing less than 17 lbs.  They are to carry a change of clothing along with a few other necessary items like bug spray and sunscreen (won't quite be like the early pioneers).  Each youth is to help push... The ancient things restored by Joseph
Posted On 07/20/2008 13:10:53 by rameumptom
In his day, Joseph Smith was viewed as a simpleton, whose Book of Mormon was a lame attempt at making a Bible.Today, we have thousands of web pages, articles and books that discuss in depth, much of the importance of the things Joseph Smith claimed to restore from ancient times.  Serious modern scholars, who take more than just a cursory look, see a brilliant genius.  In his book, The American Religion, scholar Harold Bloom noted just that, seeing Joseph Smith to be the emblem of Ameri... Posted On 07/18/2008 13:54:24 by SMG
I was reading the New Testament today, when something finally sunk into my mind.  Every single, solitary person who has or ever will exist, has been bought and paid for by the Savior via the Atonement.  If we but repent and obey His commandments, we will be set free from our bondage to sin.   That's a pretty deep realization for a person like me.  It is also very humbling.  The most perfect person to have lived on this world loved every single one of us so much, so... The Atonement Is The Greatest Love Story
Posted On 07/17/2008 13:37:43 by InTheDoghouse
The Atonement in general is such a very large topic to discuss, but I would like to focus primarily in this post on the principle of love that was involved."If sacrifice for others is the highest manifestation of love, then the Atonement of Jesus Christ is the grandest demonstration of love this world has ever known." Tad Callister, The Infinite AtonementThe first aspect of love is that of the love the Savior had for us. His love is not conditional nor is it only temporary. He demonstrated thi... Read More
