Doctrine and Covenants 128:22 "Brethren, shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren; and on, on to victory! Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad. Let the earth break forth into singing. Let the dead speak forth anthems of eternal praise to the King Immanuel, who hath ordained, before the world was, that which would enable us to redeem them out of their prison; for the prisoners shall go free." Spencer W. Kimball "Brothers and sisters, we cannot improve on the doctrines or the basic organization of the Church. The Church is perfect in organization and the doctrines are God-given. But we can improve on ourselves, and we can improve the way in which we do our individual duties, the way we keep in step with the progress. We are not suggesting in the 'lengthening of our stride' that we try to move faster than we are able, or than would be wise, but rather a mobilization of our potential in order to move the kingdom forward for the more rapid and deeper benefit of our fellowmen everywhere" (The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p. 175).
Doctrine and Covenants 101:36-38 "Wherefore, fear not even unto death; for in this world your joy is not full, but in me your joy is full. Therefore, care not for the body, neither the life of the body; but care for the soul, and for the life of the soul. And seek the face of the Lord always, that in patience ye may possess your souls, and ye shall have eternal life." Joseph Smith "I do not regard my own life. I am ready to be offered a sacrifice for this people; for what can our enemies do? Only kill the body, and their power is then at an end. Stand firm, my friends; never flinch. Do not seek to save your lives, for he that is afraid to die for the truth, will lose eternal life. Hold out to the end, and we shall be resurrected and become like Gods, and reign in celestial kingdoms, principalities, and eternal dominions" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, p. 531). ----------------------------------------------------------- How many of us really fear death? Many! Do you ask yourself, why do I fear death? For those members of the church, exception of those who are members of the Church of First Born, who do fear death, is usually caused by not receiving there “calling of election” in mortality. Meaning, thus leaving room of doubt, where their next assignment after mortality shall be. Facing the unknown on what shall become of them is the caused of this fear. Where those of the Church of First Born do not fear death but welcome it, as a day rest from this world. They only seek to be comforted, when entering into the presence of the FATHER and MOTHER. For now, they bare up each day of mortality, waiting patiently for the end. We must care for our own souls and the souls of others, daily.
2 Nephi 9:18 "But, behold, the righteous, the saints of the Holy One of Israel, they who have believed in the Holy One of Israel, they who have endured the crosses of the world, and despised the shame of it, they shall inherit the kingdom of God, which was prepared for them from the foundation of the world, and their joy shall be full forever." Thomas S. Monson "I testify to you that our promised blessings are beyond measure. Though the storm clouds may gather, though the rains may pour down upon us, our knowledge of the gospel and our love of our Heavenly Father and of our Savior will comfort and sustain us and bring joy to our hearts as we walk uprightly and keep the commandments. There will be nothing in this world that can defeat us. "My beloved brothers and sisters, fear not. Be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith" (Ensign, May 2009, p. 92).
- - - - - - - - - Yea, the future is a bright one for those whom the Lord has redeemed from this world. As Nephi saw the future and those who are called the Church of the First Born in receiving their portion of the highest order within the Celestial Kingdom, there is nothing but nothing to fear in this mortality, if you are obedient and do the FATHER's will. There is nothing in this world can conquer them. Ministering Spirits will attain to thee in every climb and every hour if needed. As President Monson stated, “Our future is a bright one.” As our journey into the eternality will continue on until we finally meet the First Adam
Doctrine and Covenants 38:24-27 "And let every man esteem his brother as himself, and practice virtue and holiness before me. And again I say unto you, let every man esteem his brother as himself. . . . I say unto you, be one; and if ye are not one ye are not mine." Gordon B. Hinckley > "[As Latter-day Saints] we must be friends. We must love and honor and respect and assist one another. Wherever Latter-day Saints go, they are made welcome, because Latter-day Saints are mutual believers in the divinity of the Lord Jesus Christ and are engaged together in his great cause. "We speak of the fellowship of the Saints. This is and must be a very real thing. We must never permit this spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood to weaken. We must constantly cultivate it. It is an important aspect of the gospel" (The Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p. 223). -------- Am I my brother’s keeper? Yes! Most of us will find it hard to love our enemy, those who use us, and those who had befriended us. What does it really matter, when we finally received the final portion called the third key as Peter stated in 2nd Peter chapter one, we finally know our part in the pre-mortal life and in the eternal life. Our time should be occupied in finalizing our lives with preparation in returning home. Our time, what is left in this life, should be occupied in bringing them who are seeking truth out of the living darkness back into the light. We should forgive everyone and allow the Savior, who is the God of this Earth, be the infinite judge. I can attest, I seen it in my days, noting how the Savior is swift to act and apply appropriate judgment to them who are unrepentant. This should be our nature. This should be our character.
Moroni 10:32 "Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God." Harold B. Lee "Some of you do not now have a companion in your home. Some of you have lost your wife or husband or you may not yet have found a companion. In your ranks are some of the noblest members of the Church---faithful, valiant, striving to live the Lord's commandments, to help build the kingdom on earth, and to serve your fellowmen. "Life holds so much for you. Take strength in meeting your challenges. There are so many ways to find fulfillment, in serving those who are dear to you, in doing well the tasks that are before you in your employment or in the home. The Church offers so much opportunity for you to help souls, beginning with your own, to find the joy of eternal life. "Do not let self-pity or despair beckon you from the course you know is right. Turn your thoughts to helping others. To you the words of the Master have special meaning: 'He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it'" (The Teachings of Harold B. Lee, p. 257-258).
James 1:23-25 "For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." Joseph Fielding Smith "So it is easy to understand that we must accept the mission of Jesus Christ. We must believe that it is through his grace that we are saved, that he performed for us that labor which we were unable to perform for ourselves, and did for us those things which were essential to our salvation, which were beyond our power; and also that we are under commandment and the necessity of performing the labors that are required of us as set forth in the commandments known as the gospel of Jesus Christ. "Unless a man will adhere to the doctrine and walk in faith, accepting the truth and observing the commandments as they have been given, it will be impossible for him to receive eternal life, no matter how much he may confess with his lips that Jesus is the Christ." (Doctrines of Salvation, 2:311).
Helaman 14:30 "And now remember, remember, my brethren, that whosoever perisheth, perisheth unto himself; and whosever doeth iniquity, doeth it unto himself; for behold, ye are free; ye are permitted to act for yourselves; for behold, God hath given unto you a knowledge and he hath made you free."
David O. McKay "What we are by heredity is determined; we cannot change it. We, who spring from families that have observed the gospel teachings, have inherited good qualities as well as good names. The least we can do is to transmit the same inheritance to our children. We are recreant to our obligation to society if we do not give to our progeny all the nobility bequeathed to us by our ancestors. "In our youth, our environment is largely determined for us, but I wish to refer to the thought that in courtship and marriage we can modify, aye, can control to a very great extent, our environment. Morally speaking, we can carve the very atmosphere in which we live. "But the most important of these elements now is personal effort---that which we make of ourselves." (Gospel Ideals, p. 461-462).
Luke 10:25-28 "And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live." George Albert Smith "In order that we might be prepared for that kingdom, the Lord, in his mercy, in this latter day restored the gospel of Jesus Christ, and placed in it divine authority, and then gave understanding to his children that certain ordinances may be received and performed. For this purpose temples were built, and into those temples those who desire a place in the celestial kingdom have the opportunity to go and receive their blessings, to enrich their lives and prepare them for that kingdom. This is the kingdom where God and Christ dwell. This is the place that those will live who have earned the right to inherit it." (The Teachings of George Albert Smith, p. 36).
