Cause-n-Effect of Influence

Lorenzo Snow
"You exert a certain degree of influence, and be it ever so small, it affects some person or persons, and for the results of the influence you exert you are held more or less accountable.  You, therefore, whether you acknowledge it or not, have assumed an importance before God and man that cannot be overlooked" (The Teachings of Lorenzo Snow, p. 72).

Spencer W. KimballSpencer W. Kimball, as an Apostle, made the following statements:

"Early in this dispensation the Lord made clear the position his restored church should take with respect to civil government. In the revelation he gave to the Prophet Joseph Smith, he said: "And now, verily I say unto you concerning the . . . law of the land which is constitutional, supporting that principle of freedom in maintaining rights and privileges, [that it] belongs to all mankind, and is justifiable before me.

"Therefore, I, the Lord, justify you . . . in befriending that law which is the constitutional law of the land." (D&C 98:4-6.)

Every Latter-day Saint should sustain, honor, and obey the constitutional law of the land in which he lives. ("Guidelines to Carry Forth the Work of God in Holiness" 4-5)"

As we enter the nation's election year, remember, let us vote for the right person and not for the party.

Be Faithful to the End

"We know not what we shall be called to pass through before Zion is delivered and established; therefore, we have great need to live near to God, and always to be in strict obedience to all His commandments, that we may have a conscience void of offense toward God and man. . . . Our trust is in God, and we are determined, His grace assisting us, to maintain the cause and hold out faithful unto the end, that we may be crowned with crowns of celestial glory, and enter into the rest that is prepared for the children of God" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, p. 233).

Nearing our Probation End
Posted On 04/16/2008 08:17:38

2 Nephi 2:30 I have spoken these few words unto you all, my sons, in the last days of my probation; and I have chosen the good part, according to the words of the prophet. And I have none other object save it be the everlasting welfare of your souls. Amen.

As I reflect upon these words, I was reminded this year in February, after almost thirty long years of conversion, been given a three-year [2005] probationary time span in preparing my soul. A loving Deity, whom I have grown with great admiration, has granted my last wishes in my life.

This week, reflections of what if with our life journey, not having these three experiences: life without the Plan of God, life without knowing the very Christ, and life without companionship? Prophet Moses, whom I hold a great friendship, reminds us that the Glory of God is us – His children. I do savor those thoughts continuously as a daily constant reminder as my silent moments of conversation. Yet, my passion is now saving my own children, my friends, and to include my enemies.

As we ponder those passions, what we do experience with life, sometime is tragedy, with the souls of our brothers and sisters. Some I do know through my wondering journey in life turned off the path and never return. Some fought a good battle as they finally made to the end and were partakers of the fruit of the Tree of Life. Then, some became lost in the wonderings and yet, through providence, found there way back and return to the path of the iron rod, and finally ended their life partakers of the heavenly fruit.

Yes! I was one of them that return to the path after a short absent. I did allow those weaknesses become natural strengths and allow worldly blindness to dictate my life directions. How marvelous, that the nature of our GOD, loves us in sending forth spirits of just men, to help us back to the path. I do now partake of the blessed fruit of the Tree of Life, which the Prophet Lehi described in the Book of Mormon. Never has there been such gratitude in life for those administering spirits who took the responsibility from the Father. I am grateful
I am truly grateful for those experiences and the warmth God has shed in my life.

Now as I draw closer to that day of being called home, I have made the call to my children across world to come home to include their companions. Like Adam, who called forth his posterity in last three years as stated in D&C 107:53, it reads;

Three years previous to the death of Adam, he called Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Enoch, and Methuselah, who were all high priests, with the residue of his posterity who were righteous, into the valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman, and there bestowed upon them his last blessing.

I will give my last bestowed blessing unto them, as the standing senior family patriarch, whom royal bloodlines of the House of David and the House of Ephraim, it will be last honor duty as a High-Priest after the Order of the Son of God.

I do pray for those now, in a listening ear, do not fall prey to the world or it kind. If so, come back. Come back to the path of the Iron Rod, which is the word of God that leads to the Tree of Life. Come and taste of the fruit. Taste of its sweetness. Feel the warmth of that very Light of Christ which shines forth from above. Come unto Christ, for there is no object in life that is desirable my friend. Remember who you are, a child of the God and co-inheritance with our Brother.

As I leave this message of hope for those who seek the greater Pearl of Life. The Savior spoke these very words for those who are partakers of the fruit of the Tree of Life, “
though art no longer my servant but a friend. Come, come and bask in the Light of the Father and be partakers of His Kingdom.” Moses wrote these words as he came to understanding of seeing God face-to-face, it reads;

Moses 1:5 Wherefore, no man can behold all my works, except he behold all my glory; and no man can behold all my glory, and afterwards remain in the flesh on the earth.

In closing, if anything in life that I could change would be to remove those years of hardship, emotional tears, and any measurable of pain that I may brought to my lovely companion – my beloved friend and wife. Next to that, would be remove those lasting strain of sorrow for me and the tears He shed for lost accountable moments in my life. For He is my hero
my elder brother whom I look up to
My friend, the Savior Jesus Christ. Until we meet again in the Kingdom of our Father.

If In Doubt Then Ask
Posted On 04/03/2008 09:35:14
Earlier years, as a convert to the church, reading the scriptures without the aid of an electronic personal computer, searching a verse reference as we do today, those times were arduous in laboring through piles of church books, articles, and talks. Now today, it has change as we now can sift through thousands and thousands of books, articles, talks, within seconds at our finger tips.

What came to mind this morning, as curiosity got the best of me with searching out Abraham’s [username] comment regarding the 144,000 responses, the old brain began to reminiscent as a young man, thus completing the New Testament study, I stopped on a verse that dealt with two prophets [See Rev 11] that would stand at the last days in Jerusalem.

Ignorance had it moments back when, I thought, why I can’t be of one of those individuals. Be martyr for the Savior, whom I grown a strong kinship with, O’ boy! That me!!! Well, the latter portion of our life, when our spirit begins to mature as aged bottled wine; this is not a smart thing to ask from GOD. [Humor]

I sat down and composed a letter explaining my willingness to be one of those individual and wanted to know what the church thought about that verse. My spirit was energize and pumped up in waiting for that answer. Finishing my typed letter on the typewriter, I placed it into an envelope and with a stamp; I mailed it to Church Headquarter, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Well, a month went by until one day, I came home from work, I discovered I finally received my response in the mail from church headquarters. I don’t know if I was over thrilled or just nervous before opening that letter concerning the response.

I opened the letter and read the content explaining as Elder Lund remarked below. Then the last paragraph concluded with loving thanks for asking such a question and telling me how great an individual I was in studying the scriptures and that the Lord loves me. Ok, now I thought, this was the dumbest thing I could ask for. Talk about pure ignorance, I thought. This axiom comes to mind, “We live and learn.” Anyway, in the letter, much kindness was written in seeing my lack of understanding of GOD's hand. For that matter, my own stupidity for such attempt in asking for such a responsibility. [LOL]

On the bottom of the page, it was signed Spencer W. Kimball, President, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

“Finally, we learn from the Prophet's revelations that the "two witnesses" seen by John as playing a pivotal role in the great battle of Armageddon were two prophets raised up to the Jewish nation (not necessarily Jewish themselves, as some have maintained) in the last days, who would work among the Jewish people in their homeland (see D&C 77:15). Elder Bruce R. McConkie said that these two prophets would be "followers of that humble man, Joseph Smith. . . . No doubt they will be members of the Council of the Twelve or of the First Presidency of the Church." (Gerald N. Lund, Selected Writings of Gerald N. Lund: Gospel Scholars Series , p.93)

Why?
Posted On 04/01/2008 14:15:59

At times, I am at lost with those few seekers of the ‘The Word’. If sincerity is the key in seeking the ‘The Word’, why would we allow our own personal culture or academic prejudicism, to outweigh what is being presented? Why would we deny the servants of ‘The Word’?

I am reminded when there a stirring in the soul, many of our brothers and sisters who somehow manage to begin the mortal journey down the straight and narrow path, eventually fall off quickly by their own personal choices by not cleaving to the iron rod, which is ‘The Word’.   Will in the end, drift through the foggy midst and end up either in the river or upon the further side of the river, where the world reside.

‘The Word’ is sometime presented by His called servants, called to administer the message to them in person. Others may receive the ‘The Word’ by Holy Spirit of Promise by a mere touch. Giving credence on what is being presented. Now, the selected ‘called ones’, may receive it directly.

When we finally receive ‘The Word’, it is usually a byproduct of our own spiritual maturity.
