A Missionary Letter
Posted On 01/08/2008 23:13:41
Our son is serving in the Panama Panama City Mission. He recently sent a letter home sharing his expierence about Elder Scott touring the mission. His schedule and the part of Panama he was in would only allow him to speak with 2 Zones. There was about 38 missionaries in all. Also with him was Elder Jones and Elder Clark of the Seventy. They sat in a semi circle and Elder Scott told them he was going to take off his sombrero and talk with them as friends just as he would the members of the 12 and the First presidency. He mentioned to the missionaries this would be something they would remember the rest of their lives. How often do you get to sit inn a room with 3 General Authorities. He spoke with them about missionary work, education, marriage, families,Christ and more. Our son told us for the first time in a Year and a half he felt like he was sitting in the Temple. In the end Elder Scott shared his testimony...He testified he knows Christ lives..not because he has faith but...because he has actual knowledge of it. So far this has been one of his best letters. This one was powerfull......

Released

Just about 2 sundays ago I was released from my calling as Branch President. After serving for 7yrs I was happy and sad. I grew to love all the members of our Branch. They are the greatest. I have lost quite a few tears. The first sunday after my release I sat with my family. I was happy to be able to sit with my wife and daughter. It was also very difficult to sit there. I felt really out of place. We have a great Branch President and I will help him and support him all I can. I had alot of expierences during this calling. One of the hardest things I did while serving was hold a Church court on my own daughter and her excommunication from the church. She has since been re-baptised and married and sealed in the Temple. We also have a grandaughter who was born in the covenant. One of the best expierences I had was interviewing my Wife for her Temple Recommend. I never did mant Temple interviews....I would delegate everything I could to my councilors. This one Sunday my Wife needed a temple Recommend interview and for the first time in my life I gave her this interview. I never did this while serving as a Bishop and while serving during the last 7yrs as Branch President until just last year. The spirit was awesome we both had tears in our eyes. It was a great expierence...one I will never forget.
