Disney's animated Beauty and the Beast (Yes, I am aware I'm a dork!), The Black Swan (1942 - starring Tyrone Power (swoon) and Maureen O'Hara), The Buccaneer (1958 - starring Yul Brynner (swoon) - it's a movie about the pirate Jean Lafitte, who I am related to!), Irving Berlin's White Christmas, I like old musical movies, especially one's with Fred Astaire (swoon), favorite LDS movie: The best two years... I like watching TV shows on DVD/VHS, Disney's Zorro (ooooollllldddd black and white TV show with Guy Williams as Zorro (swoon, swoon, swoon)), La Femme Nikita (not a very LDS friendly show, I know!), Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, and I'm watching The Tudors right now...

I am the only church member in my family. The last few years of my life have been very trying, but I am learning a lot. I became disabled (brain tumor, headaches, diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, memory problems, anxiety and depression) and I am struggling to find my place in society again. I was a 911 operator for 8 years before my health declined. I met my honey on the job, and we have been together for 7ish years. He is the most amazing supportive wonderful person in the entire world. I have a black lab service dog nammed Sophie who means the world to me. I love my church, and I have a firm testimony of the church and of my savior Jesus Christ. I am very blessed.

I just read your conversion story, and it IS awesome!!! I was the golden investigator too... Looking back on it, I can only imagine how excited those mishies were knowing what I was getting myself into and how wonderful it would be!

Spartan, aren't we blessed to have the gospel restored, and to say that we are part of the TRUE church on earth? What a blessing.

And then to have a forum like this to be able to share, and make friends like you, AWESOME. hee hee hee... thank you for sharing your story!

I still keep in touch with the missionaries who taught and baptized me. The one who baptized me got married a few months ago and I got to go to his sealing. It's gotta be pretty cool for him to see me progress over the last 2 years. He gave me my free copy of the Book of Mormon, taught me about the gospel, baptized me, was in the circle when I received the priesthood, was my escort for my endowment and came to my sealing. I've had some amazing people put in my life since joining the church, from missionaries to online buddies like yourself. We have definitely been blessed. I had some growing pains while I adjusted to the Mormon lifestyle, but I knew it was worth it. I can't remember what life was like outside of the church now. I don't want to, either.

Since someone pointed it out, all I can see when I look at your avatar is the laughing clown. It is so funny I didn't see it before... Ugh!!!

Anyway, just checking in, having fun debating with you, and hope you are having a great day!!!

Thanks, likewise. I've tried to change my clown-head-mushroom-cloud avatar recently, but lds.net will have none of it. Too bad. I miss the doe-eyed Icelandic girl who used to be my avatar for so long.

I too struggle with anxiety and depression. Not near as bad as in the past thankfully, but still hard sometimes. I feel for you and your other health problems. That fact you have a black lab makes me smile, I am a animal lover. Black labs are beautiful. I bet your sweet Sophie brings you much happiness!

I really like your dog's name. I'd say "It's Sophie which is short for Philosophia" The word "philosophy" comes from the Greek φιλοσοφία (philosophia), which literally means "love of wisdom" :) I hope you are doing well.

You will always be grateful you attended seminary, believe me. The foundation of gospel instruction that you are given in Seminary and the habit of studying your scriptures daily are two precious gifts that are recieved by doing so.
