My dad joined the church when I was 7. I have really known no other way of life. Only thing about the church I'd change? The prohibition on sweet tea! Still remember the taste and that I loved it, even as a 7 year old. Spent my youth in Iowa, the rest of it traveling around. Lived in the Atlanta Georgia area for 6 years and will retire there. We loved it. Currently in Buffalo NY, and close to the church sites, which are wonderful. Married now for 26 years to the world's most patient woman. Have 3 daughters, one of which is married and has given us one TYRANT grandson. Graduated from BYU in 1985 with a BA in Japanese and moved to Japan for over 4 years to work.

Current job is as an associate chimp. Hoping to be promoted to orangutan soon, but the chief gorilla is a real monkey butt, so not holding out lots of hope!

Amen, brother.  That was one of the hardest things to give up for me.  I still get a craving for it on occasion, but I resist....I just indulge in my Mt Dew now (the full octane--none of that decaffeinated, diet stuff).

Wow! That was fast!  Thank you for your comment :)

I live in Okayama. It's next to Hiroshima, as you probably already know. Thank you very much for serving here in Japan. :)  What years were you here as a missionary?

Grew up in the Cedar Rapids Stake, when Cedar Falls was part of the Stake (I was in the Davenport Ward). That was many  many years ago, because the Davenport stake was created in the 70s if I remember right. The only family I remember from Cedar Falls was the Oesterle family, had a crush on one of the daughters!

We are in the Fayette Branch.  The comment you made about the person you remember from a youth living in Cedar Falls?  He is in our Stake Presidency.  I read your profile I enjoyed it.  Also..Western NY hmmmm? I was born in Chautauqua County, most of my 5 generations ancestry were born, raised and died there.

GREAT looking Family!

I'm a european mutt, so no, no Japanese lineage here. I would like to learn Japanese, I took it in high school, but I didn't pay attention in class so I only remember a very little bit.

Is your avatar picture your true love in life? Or does it have some other meaning? I am in a long term committment with my Jeep and 68 Triumph myself...
No, its a picture my son took that I really like. But thanks. I have this brown pick-up that I really like.

I was amused by your reference to tea. If there was one thing I found easy about joining the church it was the Word of Wisdom. I've always hated the very smell of tea. It makes me feel ill. I could never understand why anyone would want to drink it. Now I have the perfect reason for not doing.

Your 'picture' is totally  'ehhksellent'! The only other Simpson's fan on this site I know of is CK.

One of the best lines ever: after Milhouse's folks were lost at sea, Milhouse was depressed and walked up to a group of kids, including Nelson, and Nelson says: Hey Loser! Your mother called. She said 'glub, glub'!

I swear I laughed for 15 mins!

One of the best shows ever. My wife absolutely hates it. I've seent he movie about 4 times now.

"Alright brain, I don't like you and you don't like me so lets get this over with and I can go back to killing you with beer" - Homer before taking an exam. I think it was the nulear physics test. Brilliant!!!!!!
