First Day
Posted On 01/08/2008 23:13:41
Wow my own blog. Who would have ever thought. I bought my first computer in 1988. I had a 10 meg. hard drive and all of 128kb of ram. Had a true floppy drive for the old 5" floppy drives and a 3" floppy drive also. This was just as Windows was coming out. Now I have a computer that is a 3.4Ghz machine with 1 gig of ram and two 200 G hard drives. DVD player and DVD burner. Boy have times changed in terms of computers. Oh yeah first computer couldn't go online with until I bought and added a 5,400 dial up modem. Now have cable modem and there are days that is it way too slow. Just can never be happy.

I love to read. I read about a book a week. Sometimes I read fiction, other times history and of course my scriptures and other books regarding the church and church history.

Lately I have taken to reading the forums here at LDS Talk. I find that there are some very intelligent people here making posts from a wide variety of topics. Some very interesting and others very boring. There are great intellectual discussions on science and religion. Some on belief and non belief, knowledge and faith.

I find it hard to believe that someone would come here for personal relationship advice or how to on dating and all those things. I am amazed that someone would come here and ask how to deal with a spouse with substance abuse problems or addiction problems. Remember that the people that are here do not have any special skills to help you with your problems. True they may have had their own experience and can share how they felt but it is not necessarily how you should feel. They don't know you or the other half of your relationship. Advice without hearing both parties side to any matter is just asking for an opinion on how you feel but cannot reflect true advice on the situation since only half the story is known.

Phew that was a lot said.

Life is good. I find most things in my life as great. I have a wife of 30 years. Children that love me and come to me for advice. Interesting how they want the advice now that they are between 28 and 22 years old but try to give it to them when they were 16. smile.gif

Two lovely granddaughters that love spending time with Papa.

I work when I want. Fish when I want and spend lots of time with good friends. It is said that laughter lengthens your life. If that is true I will live to be over 100.

Big weekend this weekend. Family and friends in town for the BYU vs UNLV football game. Should be a good game for BYU. As bad as they are this year UNLV is worse.

Lots of food and friends this weekend. Hope everyone has a good one.

This Takes Some Getting Used To

Almost forgot that I had created this blog. We have been having a great time the last couple of weeks. We have our granddaughter at our house most days while my wife watches her and daughter works. What a cute little kid. We will be with the two little girls this Thanksgiving at my oldest daughters house.

Our son is coming down tonight from Provo and I will have to take him down to the gym tomorrow and give him a raquetball lesson. LOL.

Will be out of town this weekend for Thanksgiving.

Hope everyone gets their wishes this Thanksgiving holiday and is able to enjoy the thought of the holiday and give thanks for the things that they enjoy. It may not be material but there is lots to give thanks for.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone
