Dear LDS freinds, I know you all beleive in Food storage and prepardness so as to protect yourselves and your familys in times of need, and to be prepared to support others, not to be a burden...but why is that so many of my neighbours never wish to even think about planning for a shortage in their daily food intake? I have read that people dont want to think about bad news, that may happen to them in the future. Example-Smoking can kill you, pre-organized funeral arrangements, living wills,Wills. People are more keen to pay for a palm reader to tell them of their good fortune, or buy a lotto ticket, that offers good fortune, but not to prepare for a food crisis, which would lead them into good fortune! How do I introduce people to food prepardness, without making the idea seem unlucky? Can anyone suggest a way to open up closed minds with my neighbours? I appreciate your help and advice. Kind regards Einladen

How rich in opportunity are we when we have the right to be prepared. When we have the will to be prepared. When you see the devestation in communities where they are savaged by thugs and war, and they have no chance to prepare food storage or water storage, we then realize how fortunate we are to have this opportunity. Sadly most people outside of war torn areas do not have enough money or dont beleive they need to store more than a few days worth of food in their home. They may find the money for expensive shoes or a state of the art smart phone, but they dont see the need to allocate their resources to fend off hunger....the hunger that haunts as all. You dont have to be in Africa to have Hunger Dreams. My current concern are for my fellow Europeans in Greece. I once lived in Greece for 2years and visited a total of 16 Islands and hiked the border of Albania and the ancient city of Meteora in the mountains of Central Greece. I slept on the peak of Mt Etna and snorkelled for ancient clues in Greece's clean azure seas. I love the Greeks and the country. Greeks are very very good people. My second concern in todays world are the old citizens of our communities that go to bed hungry. We tend to forget about our elderly that pay the electricity bill but then have no money left to eat. Its so hard to imagine when your young not to be able to eat your favourite family meal...sadly many older citizens have many nights of Hunger Dreams. These are my concerns and I shall update you how I am trying to make a difference.
