Are Mormons Christian?

It boggles our minds that the question is raised, but then that's just because the misconceptions ran away with the moon.

Part of the misconception stems from the fact that many casually know us by a nickname, "Mormons." We're actually members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We adore the Lord, celebrate His birth, announce his atonement and resurrection. We sing of Him, as "Lord of Lord and King of Kings." It's true that our lyrics are not in harmony with those ringing out that He is "just a man" (Jesus Christ Superstar), for He is far more than man or prophet. He is, truly, "the Christ"--the only One through whom we can be saved.

We do, however, agree that He was real--not a fictional or mythological figure. Jesus Christ lived and lives. He left His premortal estate with the Father to descend to this earth, born of a Virgin birth, to fill his destiny as the promised Messiah, the Savior, the Redeemer. He suffered for our sins, died, and was resurrected, as we will be, with a perfected, glorified, tangible body. He lives!

We, as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("Mormons") strive to emulate the Savior. I know that I'd be lost without Him. He has saved my life physically; he died to save me spiritually. I long to feel His love and presence, and I do, as I read His words, as His Spirit quickens me, as I strive to obey and seek forgiveness through His name. My relationship with Him is at the very center of my life. I love Him. Other Mormons, though their relationship is unique, will testify likewise.

Christians love the Savior, strive to be like the Savior, desire to take His name upon them, strive to obey His laws, try to extend His love and give back to the world some small gift in return through our lives and sacrifices.

That's what we do.

That's who we are.
