Hello Keith. It was so nice to hear from you. I appreciate your message. It's great to be here. I think this forum looks wonderful. So far the Book of Mormon is the only one that I've started reading. I do want to get the Doctrine and Covenants, as well as the Pearl of Great Price. I am feeling very much pulled in by what I'm reading in the Book of Mormon.

So how long did it take you from the first time you went to a service and/or talked to the missionairies before you were baptized?

Are there any particular books that you would recommend? Like I mentioned in my intro, so far I've read Mormonism for Dummies. That's been it.

I definitely think Nephi sounds like a great man. It's a shame all he went through with his brothers. I will admit that when I first started reading I wasn't sure if I would find it all far fetched or not. You know what I mean. I grew up always reading and believing something different. Nobody ever said anything about any Israelites coming to the New World. I'm finding that it all makes perfect sense.

The Mormonism for Dummies book gave me a good introduction on Joseph Smith. I grew up hearing that he was a charlatan, etc. I'm not feeling that way at all. It has been a little different reading about being spirit children, etc. I had always wondered where we were before this life. I wasn't sure if we were just totally created when were were conceived or if a part of us had existed beforehand.

I do have some questions I'm going to ask in another message on the forum. I've got to write them up so I make sure I ask what I want to ask.

I'll ask you this here. Was it hard giving up all the things you aren't supposed to be drinking? How do you handle that? Do you not drink any coffee or tea at all? What about soda?

Also how do you handle entertainment? What sort of restrictions do you put on yourself as to what kind of movies you will watch and what kind of music you will listen to?

Thanks so much. I hope I didn't write too much. Take care. Have a great weekend.

Keith
