The last of the magic
Posted On 03/09/2009 01:24:58

Sorin and the elfin King sat down at a roughly built table across for each other somewhere deep below the ground.  The walls were  made from roots that had twisted to for a tunnel.
"Sorin my dear dear friend.  It has been far too long."  To sorin the words spoken by his friend were etched upon his face.
Sorin smiled.
'So what is it we must talk about you Majesty?"
The king stood up and began pacing.
"Sorin I have never told you my name have I?"   Sorin looked at him puzzled.
"I am sure you had very good reasons for that, our names are power and in the wrong hands..."
The king smiled.
"Well that would be one of the reasons my name is not spoken of freely, but that is not the reason I have kept my name from you."  He sighed deeply.  "In order for you to understand what I am about tot tell you I must give you some of my history.  I would prefer that you keep any comment until the end so that I may explain myself fully."  He looked at sorin waiting for an answer.
"I understand.  I will keep all comments till the end of your explanation."  Sorin was confused, but knew his friend well, and this was a matter that had been bothering him.
"This would be much better conveyed in thoughts then words. The girl you are about to see is my mother, and the first bit is more interpretation then actual memory"  He waved his hands in a slow circle, and a thought bubble appeared.  He sat down, as the picture in the thought bubble became clearer.
a young girl stood looking at a man.  She was pregnant, and  her voice was sad.
"You can't leave! what about the baby?"
The man laughed.
"I never wanted anything to do with this child!"
"If you leave then I will have nothing!"  She began sobbing.
"Go back to your Clan!"  HE spat.
"They will want nothing to do with me.  I am a trader. This child is a mischling, a sin against the laws of magic.  If I go back they will kill us both!"  She fell to her knees and wept at his feet.  "I have nothing and you swore to take care of me!"
He lagged  "I care nothing for your trials woman."  HE kicked he away from him, and walked away laughing.
The thought bubble grew cloudy, and then focused in again. The woman was laying on the ground.  She looked dead.  A kind gentle elf of a different clan picked her up and carried her to safety.  When she awake he was there beside her.
"You are awake, and not in very good condition.  You are so far away from your mother tree.  Where is your clan?  Why have they abandoned you?"  He looked kindly down upon her.
She broke down in tears.
"the wizard who swore to love me has abandoned me with this misclhing, and My clan will not take me back."  She rubbed at her nose with her palm.  "I have nothing."
The elf stood.
"What is your name?" he spoke tenderly.
"My name is Myrla."  She answered timidly.
"Myrla, I am the king of the Fir tree elf's, and I shall take you in as my queen, and your child as my own, for I am not yet married, and my people need a queen."
Myrla snorted.
"What kind of a queen would I be?  I have sinned against magic laws, and bring a mischling as an heir."
He looked down at her.  "
IT matters not what my people say, for I am King and can govern myself as I see fit."
The bubble clouded over again bu this time many years had passed.
The king and queen and sun were sitting at the table enjoying a meal when a servant cam scuttling urgently to the king.
"Your Majesty a wizard is here demanding that he see you and the queen."
The king spoke.
"tell him I will attend to him after the dinner hour, and if he fights put him in a dungeon till I can see him."
The doors burst open.
"You would have the father of your son detained?  I think not."  The servant scurried away quickly  "I am here to take back what is mine!"  He bolstered.
"Excuse me?"  The king was now standing glaring at the intruding wizard.  "You left them both for dead, and now you want them back after I have cared for them all theses years?"
The man made his way towards mryla.
"Go now my child run and tell the gaurds to come quiclkly  for there is a enemy to the king in the dining hall."
Quickly the young prince ran.
He found the gaurds playing drinking games in the kitchen
"Quickly you must go! The king and queen are in a compromising situation.  They need assistance!"
the head guard stood up and slapped the young prince.
"You little liar. The bell would have tolled if there was any real threat!" he sauntered towards the young prince menacingly.  "You just want to see us all get worked up over nothing.  We don't have to take orders from you! Not now! not ever you little halve breed!"  HE was about to slap him again when he ducked and ran back towards his parents.  If the gaurds would not do anything then he must.    He hid quickly behind a statue when he saw the wizard heading his way.  The wizard did not see him but kept running on.  The young prince ran as hard as he could back to the dining room.  He could hear the bells tolling.  Tears flowed behind him as he ran even faster.  The gaurds had not beaten him to the dining room.  He walked slowly around the table afraid of what he might see.  There on the floor were both his mother and his father dead. their throats slit.  He bent over them in shock.  It wasn't until someone had pulled him away he realized he was not alone.  The crowd that had gathered began chanting.
"The prince did it!"  HE looked around for someone to save him, but no one was found.  They began to reach for him but he was too fast.  Running for his life  He rounded a corner and bumped into the guard who had called him a liar and slapped him across the face.  Anger now boiled up inside him.
"If you had done your job lagorian The king and queen might be alive!"  Lagorian looked at him with a face full of shame.  "You have dishonored your king, and your people!  You are a Coward, and a traitor!"  The words slapped him like he had slapped the young prince earlier.
"You are right my liege, I do not deserve your forgiveness.  I deserve to die along with the wizard who slew them, but if I may you Majesty you have no  time to delay, everyone is blaming you, and I might have been one of them had you not came to me before the bells tolled.  If you will hide until I can gain control of your people I promises to fight for you until the day I die.  I will never have an excuse to be called a coward again."  The sound of the mob was coming closer.
"I will hide in my fathers quarters.  Find me when they have calmed down, and we shall talk then."  He ran with all his might.
The bubble popped, and The king sat next to Sorin.
"Lagorian fulfilled his duty to me tenfold, and knowing I had to seek revenge I left him in charge.  For the ten years that followed I studied.  the thing about being a mischling is that it gives me an unfair advantage.  Each parent passes magic onto it's young evenly, but when a mischling is conceived seventy five percent of the magic to be passed on down through the generations  is absorbed into it's DNA.  So not only dose that make me extremely powerful, but it means that  any children born from the parents of a mischling after that get a very diluted form of magic called abfall.  It is the left over garbage.  Anhow Being so powerful I studied and became masterful in not only magic, but archery, alchemy, swordsmanship, and even hand to hand combat.  Anything I thought would be useful I mastered it.
Then I hunted him down.
He was pretty easy to find.  I went into the town during the day I was no coward, and I didn't want to sneak up on him.  I wanted him to fight with me.
I opened the home in which he lived.  He was cursing and swearing as  came up behind him with a knife.  I grabbed him and held him tight with the knife blade at his throat.
"I am here for a battle!"  I told him.  "Will let you go only so you may get a weapon.  "I will kill you with the dignity. unlike my parents you I let him go and he ran for his weapon.
"I have killed a lot of people you know.  Who exactly are you avenging?"  He was old and fat.
"MY parents, king and queen of the fir elf's."
He laughed.  " That was over ten years ago, why didn't you come sooner?"
His back was turned as he spoke.
"I wanted to be the best so I could easily defeat you."
The wizard turned around quickly, and released an arrow.  The room flashed white and the arrow disintegrated in fire.
"Is that best you can do?"  I pulled an arrow out of my quiver and shot it at his heart.  He surprised me as my arrow to disintegrated.
I pulled out my sword and lunged at him.  I knew I was stronger.  I quickly closed my eyes and slid the sword into his belly.  As I pulled it out I felt dirty.  I had never before killed a man, and even though he deserved to die, I still felt sick to my stomach.  I sat down to catch my breath when I saw a young boy sitting under a table.  He had seen it all.  HE looked terrified.  I didn't know if I could answer his questions so I ran."
the king looked at Sorin.
"Although I am telling you this story for the first time some of it should seem familiar to you.  The reason I did not tell you my name dear friend is because we are brothers.  Just as I sought to avenge my father I thought you may have wanted to avenge yours.  I should not have kept this from you for so long and for this I apologizer."  He could not look into Sorins face so instead looked down.  "My name is Larieth, Please forgive me."
All of a sudden Sorin began laughing.
"Forgive you!!."  You want me to forgive you?" Eh laughed some more.  "I should be thanking you." Larieth looked up at Sorin in surprise.
" My father was about to give me another beating that day, because I was a terrible prodigy.  I had found a knife, but I knew I was not strong enough to kill him.  So I was preparing for to take the beating." He smiled.  "He was coming at me when a stranger came in and killed him for me!  If you hadn't have come I would have poisoned him that night anyhow."  Sorin was laughing, and Larieth stood up.  He was now laughing to. They embraced in a hug.
"All this time we could  have been better friends the way brothers are!"  Sorin let go of the embrace and looked at Larieth in a funny way.
"You were there at the castle that night weren't you?"
Larieth smiled.
"I had word that you were in trouble, and I came as quickly as I could.  When I saw that you were about to cast a spell I tried to help you but I could not.  Other powers were helping you.  Stronger ones magic then even I posses was t your aid.  So I knew that you would  eventually  come to set us free.  You may not have the strong magic, but the strong magic in the world believes in you, and you are meant to be Jenna's Guardian this much I know."
Sorrin's face became disturbed.
"I know, but why I was chosen I will never understand."  HE frowned.
"Dose she know yet?" Larieth asked.
"I haven't been able to tell her I was only set free last night." Sorin sighed  "What am I to do?"
"Sorin you must tell her soon if she is to have time to adjust." Larith patted Sorins shoulder.  "But for now you should go to her, and make sure all it well."  And after a moments thought Larieth added.  "be well my brother, and I shall talk with my daughter about her behavior."

The last of the magic

Jenna and Sorin sat across from each other on the bus.  They were headed not back to the castle but instead to the castle grounds.  There was a Forrest not to far off, and that is where They were headed.
As they sat in Silence Jenna looked over at Sorin and silently laughed.  He was gazing all about him with awe and amazement.  The things Jenna took for granted he found ingenious.   Jenna went over the discussion That they had before now in her head.
"The next question is.  Would you be willing to help me?"  HE wasn't smiling, but looking at her seriously.
"well that would all depend." She started laughing, but stopped when she noticed that he was not going to change his mood.
"Jenna.  When I entombed myself in this spell, things happened.  The spell was almost like it's own entity, and it knew what it was doing.  But it was like I was part of it So I also know what it did.  Dose this make any scene?"  He waited for Jenna to respond.
"Kind of but what dose it have to do with me?"  Jenna was twiddling her thumbs, a nervous habit when she felt unsure of situations.
'Well you see." Sorin said.  "As you know the king engaged in a war against magic, and he may very well have won."  He sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
"For all I know I may be the only magic there is left on this planet, and if that is the case what a pitiful way to end it all."  He stood up and paced the floor.
Jenna felt she should wait and let him talk till he asked for her advice or opinion.
"Don't you see Jenna, If there are more beings that wield magic trapped like I was then it is my duty to set them free.  You have no idea what it was like Jenna, there is so much more to it then the dreams you have been getting.  All I could do was nothing but hide in a spell that went wrong."  He sat back down and Jenna felt she should talk now.
"Sorin, how did you know about the dreams? in fact how do you even know my name? I have told you nothing about me, and yet you seem to just know.  How is that possible?"  She looked at him needing an answer, and for some reason she felt like he could look into her mind and read her Evey thought, and this made her nervous.
Sorin gently reached over and grabbed her shoulders causing her to look at him.  When she tried to look away he wold follow her gaze.
"Jenna."  When she  continued to avoid his gaze he became firmer in his voice.  "Look at me Jenna."  She reluctantly brought her gaze up to match his.  "Jenna, the spell, I don't completely think it was of my own doing, and if it was then I am lucky I am not dead, but it knew what it was doing.  We are connected, when you dreamed it was partly my memories, but also part of the memories of the castle itself.  I don't know why it connected to you, but for some reason you are a part of this."  He let go of her shoulders now but kept her gaze.  "And I can't go anywhere with out you because right now we are tied."  He finally turned his gaze away from her.
"Sorin, I don't know if I can help, but if you need me to then I will come."  Sorin reached over and hugged her.
As he spoke he continued his stare  "Jenna I know this may seem like it doesn't involve you, and maybe it doesn't, but even if there is nothing more you can do then keep me company that is more then enough."
As Jenna thought of the last statement Sorin made, and the hug off appreciation he gave her she got warm all over.  She looked at him one more time and she swore if he could stick his head out the window like a dog to get a better view her would.  She smiled.  He was a true and sincere friend and somehow she knew he would do all in his power to protect her.
The bus stopped, and Jenna called for Sorin to come with her.  They were back at the castle grounds where they had met only this time they were going into the Forrest.  Jenna felt uneasy, and alarmed.  She had always been a little bit nervous about forests, but this one in particular always held a feeling of dread and doom.  Sorin must have noticed her apprehension.
"Don't worry Jenna, I have had many fond memories of this place.  IT is almost like home." And with that he offered his arm to Jenna, and she gladly took it.
The sun came out from behind a cloud warming the chill out of Jenna, and melting away almost all of the fear from Jenna's mind.  They were walking arm in arm for about twenty minutes when Sorin let go and walked ahead of her for a bit.
"Do you feel that Jenna?"  HE sped his arms out and closed his eyes.  "Do you smell that?" His voice felt like it was a million miles away.  "The magic!  there is some left, and we can't be far."  Jenna felt strange. For even though she could see Sorin, and hear what he was saying it was like her ordinary senses were muffled, yet heightened at the same time. The heightend senses were not to what was going on around her but something she couldn't identify.
"Your Majesty, we have to stay and fight!"  Angered words from the past drifted to her ears clear as bells.
"Oh lagorian, I would not have my people suffer.  Weather we fight or not we die!  The only chance we have is to hide ourself beyond the realms of his rules. Even now the week, and young ones feel the suffering in full force!  Lagorian, if we fight we perish for that is magic law."  The person referred to as Majesty looked kindly upon his friend, but his friend looked away.
"I refuse to sit and do nothing while magic is being swept clear off the face of the earth, by hiding we are cowards.  If you tell me I cannot fight then I shall piece my very heart, for I would rather die a hero the live to feel cowardice."
The king sadly smiled at his friend and spoke to any who would hear.
"All those who wish to stay and fight look to Lagorian for he shall guide you, but you must know that death is promissed should you take this road.  And all those who wish to seek shealter must follow me now, for King Mourgustines armies are fast upon us."  He gestured the way for those who sought refuge to go, and clasped Lagorians arm.
"Fight well, and may your death not be in vain."  He turned to go but Lagorian called to him.
"Take my son." The son galred a the other elf.
"No father I will fight with you! The king is a coward.  I will not hide!"
Lagorian looked down upon the face of his young son with the tender love of a father.
All of a sudden A cry of anguish not only came from those who had not yet left for shelter, but from Jenna as well.
She screamed a sound of agony, then she grasped her stomach and sunk to the ground.
Sorin turned and ran to her.
"Jenna?" He said quickly.

She let out another scream.
"JENNA!
She just lay there convulsing in pain.  Screaming.
"RUN!  Run my child!"  She screamed aloud then she grabbed her stomach and groaned in pain as sorin sat there helplessly not knowing what was happening, or what he should do.
All around Jenna Warriors both elfin, and human came crashing down upon each other.  What the humans did not know was that the elves suffered intense pain from the inside out with each blow they dealt, and Jenna felt it right along with them.  If this did not stop soon she knew she was going to die.  She screamed with the all her might.
"SORIN!! HELP ME!!"
Sorin prayed that he could make something, anything work.  HE placed his hands on her face.  Please, please wake up. He thought.

The visions that had plagued Jenna stopped as thought of Sorins childhood played out in Jenna's mind. HE was a young boy and away at school. Nothing he ever did turned out right. This one particular moment The whole class had gone before him and he was last. As he made his way to the front of the room. He could hear them whispering that he would fail again or make a huge mess, or worse. He puffed out his chest and pretended he didn't care. The task was simple enough. Conjure up a thought bubble of a person you idolize, have it remain at the front of the class explaining your thoughts and facts that you had acquired about that person. They hada time limit of five minutes.

He raised his wand and the whole room gasped in anticipation of the worst. Suddenly everyone was laughing. Sorin had not conjured a thought bubble, but was now sporting his grandmothers floral hat. He had worked so hard on this project. He wanted to show his fellow students what an amazing grandmother he had, so he began speaking.

“My grandmother Sharon was a thief for a group of wizard mercenaries, When she was younger-” But Sorin never got to finish his presentation as some kid cut him off.

“I bet she was as stupid as you!”

Everyone laughed, even the teacher couldn't hide his snicker. Sorin went and sat back down. After everyone had left the class he stayed and practiced over and over again, till someone came and told him it was time to go home.

Sorin could feel Jenna calming down so he took his hands from her face.

“Jenna?” Sorin wiped the sweat from off his brow.

Jenna eyes opened.

“Are you alright?” Sorin helped her to sit up. “What happened?”

Jenna threw her arms around Sorin.

“There was a battle here. It was so terrible. The pain that the elves suffered. Sorin I think they might all be dead!” She felt week and vulnerable.

Sorin just let her stay in his arms until she finally released from his grasp.

Sorin wiped the tears from her face. “If I know the elven king of the fir trees they found a way. We will find them”

Sorin helped Jenna to her feet.

“We can rest if you need?” Sorin was worried over what had happened to Jenna and he didn't want to to push her.

“No.” Jenna shook her head. “We must find out if any survived. They need to know it's safe now.”

They walked slowly for another hour, and now she could see what Sorin meant. In the forest everything seamed so alive and new. There was a magic here all it's own that made this place special. Sorin quickly bent Down and examined a group of you fir tree saplings.

“Jenna I think this may be it.” He grabbed Jenna's hand. “Come on lets go.”

They took two steps into the clearing and were suddenly surrounded by a thick heavy mist. Sorin sped up still holding Jenna's hand. He was so excited to have found what he was looking for that he didn't look back to see Jenna. She was no longer walking but was floating in the dense fog as sorin pulled her along. The moment they had entered this realm the atmosphere filled her lungs, and she couldn't breath or talk, or anything. One they had entered the clearing Sorin let go of Jenna's hand and rushed ahead.

“Jenna they are here I know they must be.” He turned back to Jenna to find that she had collapsed on the ground. He rushed over to her. She wasn't breathing.

“Help!” Sorin hollered. “Not again.”

He rushed towards the tree crying for help. A thin beautiful woman with long white hair, and a flowing dress came out from behind the large Fir tree that stood in the middle of the barren clearing.

“Layetha!” Sorin pleased. “You must help her! She is dying.”

Layetha walked over to where Jenna lay in a heap.

“Is she important to you Sorin.'' Her words laced were with disgust.

“She is important to all of us not just me!” He was desperately trying to remain calm.

“And what if I said no. What if I wanted to watch you suffer?” She spat.

“Then we shall all die, every last bit of magic will be sucked out of this world, And after that the world will have no more reason to live and she shall die along with us.” A tall willowy man came up behind them and gently moved Layetha out of the way.

He stooped down low and placed his hands over Jenna's mouth. Whispering a incantation blue light shone from his hands. Jenna took a huge breath for air, then resumed breathing Normally.

He picked Jenna up who was still unconscious and handed her gently over to Layetha.

“Take her to the guest room. Watch over her and tend to her needs. If she should arise make sure she has food and drink.” He kept his eyes steady on the Jenna to make sure she was alright.

“But father I-”

“Layetha, do as I have said.” Layetha turned to go, but her father spoke once more. “And Layetha, we shall talk later.”

As soon as his daughter disappeared behind the tree The man turned his attention to Sorin.

“I knew you had not perished.” HE clasped Sorin a firm brotherly hug.

Once released Sorin spoke.

“Will Jenna BE okay?” fear crossed his brow.

“Jenna, will be better then okay. She just needs rest.” He smiled and them placed a hand on Sorins shoulder. “But for now you and I must talk, there is much we need to discuss.”

to be continued...

The last of the magic
Posted On 03/07/2009 02:01:26

Jenna awoke to the smell of delicious food cooking.  Halve awake she made her way to the kitchen.  She slowly took in the wonderful smells, and rubbed the sleep from her eyes.  As she rounded the corner, she snapped back to reality.   There at the counter was Sorin and Sara Laughing and eating what ever had been made.  Sorin noticed Jenna first.  He excused himself from Sara with a bow and then hurried over to see Jenna.
"Oh Jenna I am so glad that you are awake."  He grabbed her hand and guided her down the hallway.  He spoke barley above a whisper.  "I have a question to ask you?"  He said.
Jenna yawned.
"Sure go for it."
"Why is it that Sara, who is most assuredly a woman, in both body and personality feels the need to dress in such a strange and masculine manner?"  Jenna laughed out loud, and then regained her composure.
"Well no one has ever asked me that before.  I don't know if I have an answer for you."  They both glanced over at Sara who was pouring herself a glass of orange juice.
She had her ears stretched and wide plugs put in. The rest of her ears were pierced all the way up.  She had her nose, tongue, eyebrow, and lip pierced.  Plus to top it all off her hair was a short black buzz cut all over her head except for her long bright green bangs which she clipped out of her face with a juvenile  butterfly clip.
They stood there for a moment watching until Sara waved at them to come and join her.
As Jenna sat down Sara pushed a plate of food in her direction.
"You should try this."  Sara winked.  "It is really good."
Jenna looked skeptical.
"Sara I have had your "really good" before, and trust me I think I will pass."  Sara laughed.
"No, no silly.  I didn't make it."  She looked over at Sorin and winked.  "Sorin did."
He looked away and blushed.
"It was the only way I could repay you for what happened early this morning."
Jenna looked at him in a quizzical manner.
"what happened early this morning?"  Jenna wasn't sure that she wanted to know by the way he was acting.
Sara Began Laughing hysterically.
"What Happened?"  Jenna asked again growing impatient.
"You see." Sorin began.  "I was hungry, So I began rummaging through the closets for food and then-"  Sara cut him off.
" And then I came up to him to ask him what happened, when the next thing I know there is an explosion of raw egg absolutely everywhere!"  Sara now began laughing all over again."
Sorin felt guilty.
"She startled me, and I happened to be holding the eggs."  He rushed on.  "Anyhow Jenna I am so terribly sorry about it.  I will do anything I can to repay you.  Just please don't be mad."  HE looked like he was frightened that Jenna might try to hit him.  But Jenna only laughed right along with Sara.
"Mad?  how can I be mad?  If anything I am jealous that I didn't get to see the event first hand."  She smiled and punched Sorin lightly on the shoulder.  "Now let me try this food you have made.
She grabbed the plate and looked at it.  A  little dish containing what looked like oatmeal sat off to the side of a large plate.  On top was a dollop of whipped cream, and fresh raspberries.  To the side of the oatmeal was a pile of crispy light wafers of some kind, and a stem of grapes.
"It looks wonderful."  She said, as she took her first mouthful of the oatmeal.  Sorin looked at her with anticipation of approval, and Sara had the same look.
Jeana smiled as she swallowed and reached for a second bite.
"This is amazing, but how did you know to use the stove, and all the other modern things?"  Jenna kept eating as she listened to what Sorin had to say.
"Well you see the elements of the earth are a base form of magic them selfs.  And although I am not very good at controlling magic as a wizard, I am very good at conversing with magic at it's base level."  He smiled.
Sara Laughed.
"Yeah right! I told him how to use everything, but The cooking he did All by himself."
Sorin frowned.
"Well although the stove did not tell me how to work it.  The food in it's base form told me how to prepare it."  Sorin glowered at Sara.
Sara Laughed.
"So what he is trying to say is, bad wizard equals good cook."  She smiled then began starting a load of dishes.
"Wait!"  Jenna said.  "You know that he is a wizard, and you are okay with that?"  Jenna was amazed that Sara had taken the news so nonchalantly.
Sara rinsed a dish and put it in the dishwasher before answering.
"Well I guess when you have a dozen eggs explode right in your face, not to mention every nook and cranny of the kitchen the only explanation there possibly could be is magic."  She finished putting the last dish in the dishwasher, then headed off to the front door. "I got to leave for work now, and what a long day it will be too." She winked.  "And don't worry you two.  Your secret is safe with me."  She took her coat and purse off of the coat rack. "See you later, and thanks for breakfast Sorin."  Then Sara shut the door and left. two seconds later the door opened again and Sara popped her head through the crack.
"Oh by the way Jenna I am so sorry about the message on the message machine, if you want to talk when I get home I understand."
The door shut and Jenna went to go check the messages.  Sure enough there was one for her.
"Hello Jenna, this is Mike calling."  The was static silence.  "That's right your boss..that mike!  As I am sure you can guess I heard about your little episode last night.  Well let me tell you something I don't take very kindly to my employees going stark raving mad on my watch!"  Jenna could just see him loosening his tie as he got a little red around the neck.  "You see the real problem is I don't want anything remotely resembling a nut case working for me, but... I CAN"T FIRE YOU!"  There was some heavy breathing.   "I already checked.  If I fire you then you can sue me.  If I don't fire you the alternative is that you must; take from two weeks to six months paid leave until you are deemed sane by a psychiatrist.  You are not allowed back into the work premises until you do so, and if you are deemed sane you can come back to work.  But If you a deemed to be crazy then I have every legal right to let you go from my employ."  HE paused and Jenna could only assume he was taking a drink before continuing on.
"Listen Jenna I don't want to seem cruel, but the truth is if you do come back to work for us there can not be one little slip up, and considering I could Hire a talking Barbie doll to do your job finding an excuse to fire you will be that much easier.  So your first appointment is three days from now with a doctor whitzenbarrle."  Mike continued on with the details of her appointment, but jenna just sank into the couch and groaned.
"Because of you I may loose the best Job ever, and my boss thinks I am crazy, and I have to see Dr. whats'his'barrle, and I have no clue what I am going to do till I can get back to work!"  She threw a toss cushion to the floor.
Sorin sat down next to her.
"why are you here anyway, wouldn't you have rather stayed in the castle?" Jenna asked disgruntled.
"Well the simple answer is, you are the one who set me free and broke the spell.  I am tied to you by magic, and I don't know when that tie will be severed but until then I have no choice to be close to you."
Jenna groaned again.
"So I have to prove that I am not crazy while I have a wizard glue to my hip, this should be easy."  She said sarcastically.
Sorin frowned.
"I am sorry to have caused you such trouble Jenna, and if I could leave and make your life easier I would, but I simple can not."  Sorin sighed.
"Well what do you want to do in the meantime?" Jenna asked as she turned her head to look at him.
"The more important question is what do I have to do?"  He looked deeply into Jenna's eyes and said in a tone more serious then Jenna possible from him said. "The next  question is would you be willing to help me?"

The last of the magic

"Jenna?"  Murray came running up to her.
he stooped down and shook her awake.  As soon as Jenna began to focus her eyes opened wide in a panic.
"Murray, Murray, thank goodness you are here.  The room that never could be opened, well light shone
from it, and then It opened at the push of my finger. It was so weird.  And then I wen inside, and there was this paper and the man. He is a wizard and-" Murry cut Jenna off.
"Jenna no one is here!"  He looked at her concerned. "How many fingers am I holding up?"  He held 4 fingers in front of her face.
"Murray I am not crazy!  If you don't believe me just go open that door.
Murray stood up and slowly walked to the door.  "This door?" He pushed his hand against it, and then to make a point he pushed hes shoulder into it.
"Listen I am not crazy! I know what I saw!"  Jenna was almost ready to cry.
"I don't think your crazy Jenna."  Murray said softly.
"You don't?"  Jenna herself wasn't even to sure.
"No I don't, but i do think you are some what delusional." He said this with a straight face.
"Gee thanks Murray.  Aren't those the same things?"  Jena sighed.
"Jenna I mean seriously I don't know what to think.  You came in late this morning looking like you hadn't slept in weeks.  Then you took on an extra shift, which you probably shouldn't have done, And now you are talking madness."  He let out his breath.  "Jenna I think that you should just go home, and get some sleep."
Tears rolled down Jenna's face even though she was trying hard to control it.
"But what am I going to tell the boss?"  Jenna sighed.  "Really, I can finish up."
"Jenna I will take care of it. Don't worry. Just go home and get some sleep. Everything will seem normal in the morning."  She smiled at her.  "Just go home."
Jenna stood up and dusted off her skirt.
"Okay, thanks Murray!"  She sniffed.
"Mo problem."  Murray walked with her to the front door, and waited with her while she called a taxi.
As the doors shut behind her She felt betrayed and used.  Confused, and very very tired.  She almost dozed off to sleep in the back seat, and was startled when the taxi driver spoke.
"That'll be thirty two fifty mammy!"  He gave her a grin as he held his hand out to her.
She paid him with the cash that Becky had given her, plus some spare change she had to scrounge for at the bottom of her purse.
"Thanks, and you should get some rest! Ya look awful."  hearing this from a grungy cabbie made the perfect ending to her "perfect" day. As she rode the elevator up she decided that a bath, and sleep were in order.  That should help clear her mind, and help her relax.  Murray was right tomorrow everything would be seem a lot more normal.
As she sat in the hot steamy tub of bubbles she felt her body relax and the stress melt away, and it wasn't until ten minutes later that she allowed herself to focus on what had happened.
SO many strange things.  As she thought about the parchment, and remembered the signature she took a deep breath and submerged herself under the water.  Everything was all to real.  He was real.  When she bumped into him he was definantly real.  And as she forced herself to remember what he looked like there was no denying it.  how could she forget someone she had been dreaming about her whole life.  She came back up for air and gulped it in.
"Why me?" she whispered to the air around her.
"Well there is one reason I can think of off the top of my head."  Even though the bathroom was steamy and warm Jenna felt a chill go up and down her spine.  She froze, unable to speak, unable to move.
Gathering the bubbles around her she slowly turned about to see who was in the room.  Standing in the corner with his face pressed against the walls was Sorin.
"GET OUT!" Jenna screeched shrilly.
Started at the noise Sorin jumped, and bashed his face against the walls.
'Blast!"  He was rubbing his nose where he had bonked it  when Jenna screeched again.
"GET OUT! GET OUT!" Her eyes were wide.  Sorin turned in surprise, and the covered his face once he realized he was looking at her.
"oh I am so sorry."  He ran for the door, but slipped in some water that had spilled over onto the floor.  Even though he had lost balance he refused to uncover he eyes.  Jenna could only watch as as he fought desperately to keep his balance.  Once he finally did he stood there silently. Both of them were quiet for a little while.  Sorin with his hand over his eyes, and Jenna making sure to keep the bubbles close to her body.  It was Sorin that spoke first.
"Jenna never in my life have I ever been anything but a gentleman.  so if you could kindly direct me to the door I will gladly get out as you have asked of me."  His voice quivered slightly.
Jenna took a deep breath in.
"Just slowly walk forward. and then feel around for the handle."  Sorin did so with his eyes squinted tight.  Once he found the handle he pulled it to no avail.
"No." Jenna said, almost laughing. "You have to turn the knob and then pull."
Sorin did as she said and the door opened.
"HAZA!" He exclaimed once he was triumphant.  Then with out another word he closed the door and Jenna was left alone in the bathroom.

In the time it took Jenna to dry off and put on her PJ's Sorin had found some of her old history text books and had them spread out on her bed.
She sat down a distance away from him on the edge of the bed.
"This is all quite fascinating."  He said as he flipped the page.  He looked up at her, and Jenna looked away.
Sorin came over and sat down next to her. He placed his warm hand on hers.
"Jenna I never meant to startle you." He moved around her so as to see her face.
He looked right into her eyes.
"Please forgive me I had no other choice, and I promise I saw nothing other then your face."
His eyes were the color of lilacs, and the just about matched his robe perfectly.  When he didn't break off the stare Jenna shook his hands off of hers and stood.
"I don't know!" she said.  "I don't have a clue what to think."  She began pacing the floor.
"It's not just you being in the bathroom while I was in the tub."  She let out her breath in exasperation.  "It's everything!"  At this she sat back down.
Sorin was quiet but he still would not take his eyes off of her face.  he looked at her in a way no one had ever looked at her.  It was true concern.
"I have caused trouble for you?"  Now he let his head hang down.  "But that was never my intention!"  he ran his fingers through his hair.  "It never is, and yet somehow things always end up going wrong."  At this he wiped at his eyes with the back of his hands.
Jenna didn't know what to do.
"I have to Make things right!" He said through sobs.  "Not just because It needs to be done, but for Her!"  Now he was openly sobbing.
Jenna quickly recalled her dream.  The princess.  Here was this man who had been trapped and his last memories were of being accused of murdering his fiancĂ©e.  Jenna got up and grabbed the tissue box.  She tapped him on the shoulder with it.  He wiped his eyes one last time before looking up.  Jenna pulled out a tissue and gave it to him.  He gave her a puzzled look.
"What is this device for?"  He asked.
Jenna pulled on out and gave a little demonstration.  Sorin laughed slightly.  He blew his nose, but it was clear he needed another one.  Jenna pulled out another one and held it out to him.
"Here is another one."  Sorin barely looked at Jenna but instead was staring at the tissue box.  he reached out timidly and slowly pulled out another one.  He jumped slightly upon seeing that yet another tissue had taken it's place.
"May I?"  He grabbed the tissue box out of Jenna's hands and began pulling out tissues one by one and tossing them everywhere.
Jenna giggled, and Sorin stopped to look at her.
"And here I thought that magic was no more."  He pointed at the tissue box.  Jenna laughed.
"that is not magic, the tissues are folded a certain way so that as you pull one out another one comes up with it."
"oh."  Sorin smiled.  "Well I apologizes that you had to see me upset."  He may have been smiling but Jenna could tell that underneath it was sorrow.  "So I am sure you are very confused and have questions to ask of me."  He sat cross legged and gave his full attention to Jenna.
She didn't even know where to begin.
"Well."  She said.  "First off I still am having a hard times believing that all this is real." She shrugged her shoulders.
"I mean I have this dream about you and kind Morgustine my whole life, About Magic, and war, and murder.  And now either you are here, or I am in a mental institution sporting a fancy straight jacket." She looked to Sorin for some kind of reassurance.

"Well I am here, and as for the rest of what you said, i really have no clue what it meant."  He laughed slightly.
Jenna thought about how to rephrase what she had said.
"Well you see, i think I might be insane."  Sorin just looked at her puzzled.  "you know, crazy? mad?"  at this Sorin laughed.
"Oh you are not mad."  He smiled.  "So don't even think such thoughts."
They were both silent for a while.
"So you are a wizard?''  Jenna asked.
"Not a very good one I am afraid."  He frowned, and then smiled as he point to her pillows.  "Watch."  Jenna watched as her pillows floated up towards the ceiling.
"Well that was pretty good."  Jena smiled as she gazed up at her pillows, but she had spoke too soon.
with a ripping sound bits of fluff, fabric, and feathers came raining down on them.
"my pillows."  Jenna moaned.  "well if you were not any good why did you have to attack my poor pillows?"  Jenna pouted.
"Sorry."  Sorin said sheepishly.  .
They both began to laugh at the mess that was around them, when Jenna's bedroom doors burst open.
"JENNNA!!"  Her roommate Sara called from under an armload of bags.  "You will never believe what I got on sale?"  When she finally looked over at Jenna and Sorin She laughed out loud.
"Ummmmm...."  Sara said.  "Well I am curious, but I can see that you are busy, so I will talk to you in the morning"  As abruptly as Sara came she was gone again.
Jenna rushed after her.
"Wait!"  Sara stopped but didn't turn around.
"Sara Did you see him?"  If Sara could see Sorin then it meant that Jenna was not crazy.
Sara guffawed.
"Yeah I saw him"  She put her bags down and turned to face Jenna.  "I saw him, and the purple robe, and the feathers??"  She giggled.
"Oh thank heavens, I am not Crazy!" Jenna shouted and spun in a circle.
"Well I wouldn't be to sure about that one."  Sara snorted then grabbed Jenna's shoulders to stop her from spinning.  "What is going on here?  And who is that guy?"
"My name is Sorin, and I am a wizard."  Sara burst out in fits of laughter.
"nice to meet you Sorin, My name is Sara, and I am going to bed."  She left her bags on the floor, and walked to her room, before shutting the door she turned to Jenna.
"You can tell me everything in the morning."
Jenna didn't care that her roommate thought.  The fact that someone else had seen Sorin proved that she wasn't crazy.

The Last of the magic
Posted On 03/05/2009 01:31:29

Work seemed to drag on and on as she gave tours to the faceless people who always asked the same question.  She of course always had an answer.  The closer it got to the end of her shift the more anxious she became.  It was her last tour of the day, and she was practically jogging the tour along in anticipation for tonight.  Then they stopped at a painting.  This painting was one of the main reasons the tourist keep coming, and was the last stop of the tour. The painting was that of the king set high on a hill light emanating from behind him somewhere.  At the bottom of the hill were all sorts of mythical creatures.  Dragons, Unicorns, elves, and wizards.  Only as beautiful as it was the mythical creatures at the bottom of the hill looked to be sleeping, or as Jenna thought, looked to be dead.
The tourists now took a moment to ask their questions.
"So they believed in mythical beings even way back then?"
"Of course."  Jenna replied with her false tour guide smile plastered on her face.  "I think that even then they had the imaginings we have now.  I think that mythical creatures are stories that our ancestors made up to scare young children, and we have changed them into things of beauty, and some would even say...Legend." She smiled still as she waited for the next question.
"Is that really what you think?"  A very charming male voice sounded somewhere within the crowd.  "Because I think, that that painting is very real, and tells a story more terrifying then what some child’s grandparents told them to get them to behave."  HE gave a soft chuckle.  "I also wonder why they are all sleeping, and why the shadow in the back ground looks like three men, and I think."  He paused  "That you think the same thing." Jenna’s smile faltered as she scanned the crowd for the person who had spoken.. Seeing that everyone was waiting for an answer from her, she laughed.  "Well it would seem, Mr. mysterious, that you have not lost that boyish imagination that fuels the hearts of "fictional" authors and movie producers.  Could there have been mythical, or even magical creatures long ago?  Maybe, but as for today the only magic we have is imagination, and innovation."  She smiled hoping that whoever had spoken had either slunk off in defeat, or would show himself after the crowd had died down, but either way she needed to end the tour.
"Thank you all for coming, I am sure we have all had a magical evening."  She gave a flourish to the work magical, and some of the tourists laughed with her.
"Have a good night, and don't forget to visit the gift shop on your way out.  Thank you"  She turned away from the dwindling crowd and studied the picture.  As she looked at it more intensely then even the first time she looked at it she could see the shadows looming all about the king, and falling down onto the creatures below did take  on human shape.  She looked closer, and noticed that the shadows almost seemed to move and change right before her.  One thin wispy one, one of average build, and one that was of a much stronger build.  Then her dream quickly flashed in her mind, and she couldn't help but wonder.  She looked even closer and realized that the  hill was not just a muddy hill, but the grass beneath the mythical creatures was the same color as dried blood.  Her senses heighted, and she could swear she could almost smell the scent of the old blood that had stained that hill many many years ago.  Suddenly her watch beeped, and she jumped in alarm. It was time to get a quick bite to eat, freshen up slightly.  And soon head to the west tower for her shift.  She looked back at the picture one last time.  And it all seemed normal again.
As she hurried to the staff room she didn't notice, that there was someone standing behind a pillar looking at her as she went by.

Jenna took a deep breath and slowly walked up the stairs.  She felt the cold stone with her palm as she ascended the stairs.  The air felt different as she slowly breathed it in.  At the top of the stairs she paused.
"I don't have any idea why I am here, but it just feels right."  The moonlight shone through the windows, which she was pretty certain didn't used to have glass panes to keep the drafts out.  Other then the moonlight Jenna hadn't as of yet turn on her flashlight for an extra source of light.
She walked to the door with no handle.
"And to think no one as far as we know has ever been able to get into this room.  Who knows what it contains."  She gently touched the door.
As she did a light peeped out from all around the doors through the cracks by the frame.  Jenna gasped, took a step back and closed her eyes.  When she opened them the light was gone.
She laughed nervously, and then to prove her self touched the door once more.  It swung wide open. Jenna screamed and crouched up into a little ball waiting for something to attack her.It felt like hours had passed by when she finaly had the courage to stnad up and look inside.  The room was pitch black.  She walked in, awe and wonder written on her face.  she turned on her flash light, and looked around.  Nothing!  Jenna felt dissapointed, everyone made up such fantastic stories, and there was nothing.  She went to walk away when something floated sown from the ceiling and landed at her feet.  She looked down.  It was a peice of parchment.  She picked it up.  She studied it for a moment, and realised that it wasn't faded or worn out but looked rather new.  She turned it over to examine the other side and saw very neat attractive cursive, done with ink.  She read it out loud.
"This note is my freedom from this spell." She paused and inhaled sharply at the signature.  "Sorin"
The parchment fell from her fingers.  This could not be happening.  She made her way to the door blindly.  And before she even knew what was happening she bumped into something that felt like a person, and was knocked to the ground the wind knocked out of her.
"Are you alright?"  A male voice sounded.  "Here let me help you up. If you havn't guessed my name is sorin."  Jenna looked up to see a man wearing a purple robe extend his hand to her.  She knocked it out of the way then reached for her walkie talkie.
"Murray, this is Jenna. I need back up, there is a guy inthe room that can't be opened. I know this is strange but it is  open and we have an intruder.  I repeat we have an intruder. requesting immediate_" The walkie talkie began to get really warm in her hand. and suddenly began to glow red.
"Look out!"  Sorin knocked the walkie talkie out of Jenna’s hand and into the air.  Before it even hit the ground it exploded.
"Sorry about that.  I didn't mean tomake it explode. I only wanted to make it dissapear."  He reached his hand down again.
"Now are you sure you don't want a hand up?" He looked down toward Jenna only to see that hse had fainted.
"This can't be good"  He mumbled to himself as he hoisted her up onto his shoulder and carried her out of the room.
He was going to make his way out when he heard footseps climbing up the stairs in a hurry.  Sorin laid Jenna gently down on the ground by the stairs, and then did jsut about the only thing he was good at.  He disappeared right before Murraycame running up the stairs.

The last of the magic
Posted On 03/04/2009 16:23:00

Jenna sat up quickly.

"CRAP!" Jenna cursed as she got out of bed and hit her alarm.

That stupid dream would never let her wake up untill it had run out its course. Always ending there.  She ran her hands through her long black hair.  She needed a shower.  There was never enough time.  She grabbed her tooth brush and toothpaste; Shaving would have to wait for another day; and hoped in the shower.
She squirted conditioner and shampoo into her hand at the same time.  Not her normal routine but would work in a pinch, and lathered her hair on top of her head.  As she washed her face with one hand she brushed her teeth with the other.  This was working fin till she got facial cleanser in her mouth.  She cursed and spit out the vile concoction.  Rinsed her hair once no time to repeat, and she was ready to get dressed.  She grabbed elastic from off the bathroom counter on her way to the bedroom to get dressed, and pulled her hair into a messy bun.  In her haste to button her blouse she misplaced all the buttons and had to try three times to get it right.  She hustled around the apartment grabbing her wallet, keys, phone, watch, lip chap, and a yogurt from the fridge.  She carelessly shoved all the items into her purse and scurried out the door.
She glanced at her watch.  She was making good time.  If she ran she might just catch her bus, and only be fifteen minuets late.  Just as she turned the corner to her bus stop, the bus pulled out, and took off.  Of course it had to be early.
Jenna slumped down onto the bench alone, and pulled out her yogurt.  Having forgotten her spoon she aped to drink it.  As she sat there she pondered the dream.  She had been having this dream ever since she was 5, but at that age it was all just a fog, and it only came in pieces.  As she got older, and the dreams kept coming at least once a week, the details became crisp and concise.  Her parents pent thousands of dollars sending her to therapy.  But all that did was make things worse.  Finally she just learned to live with it, in fact it was what inspired her to study history, and lean that the king from her dream actually did exist at one point in time.  His name was King Morgustine, and he was known for his love of blood shed, and violence.  She learned that even the castle he once ruled in was still in existence, and now a very prominent touristy place.  The more she studied the less frequent her dreams became.  A few years later she got hired on as a tour guide at the castle, and the dreams had stopped altogether.  That was over a year ago.  So why  were they coming back now?
Her bus pulled up and she sat at the very front. She was going to be in trouble if Murraywasn't on duty...He usually cut her a lot of slack.
As the bus drove on and she got closer to the castle this unexplainable feeling crept over her.  She needed to be in the west tower tonight, but she wasn't on guard duty and that would be the only way to do it.  She hated public transportation. She galnced over and saw a young man with messy black hair looking at her from the back of the bus.  She was grateful that her stop was next.
She hoped off her bus and came through the front doors.
"JENNA!"  Murrayalways had a booming voice.  He was Hispanic, but he was also very built.  He also happened to think he was Gods gift to women.
"Keep it down." Jenna whispered as she neared the front desk.  "Do you want everyone to know how late I am?"  Murray laughed.
"Oh nonsense!  Why you are only."  HE looked up at the wall clock.  "And hour and a half late."  Jenna winced.
"I know! Have there been many tours?"
Murray smiled.
"Not a one!"  He rested his elbows on the front counter and leaned in close to Jenna. "Tell you what."  His voice was hushed.  "How about I let you clock in on time, and you give me a little kiss."
Murray was always trying to steal a kiss from Jenna, but Jenna for some reason never felt like giving up so freely.
She leaned in close and whispered. "How about you sign me in on time, and I don't give you a kiss."  She poked his nose and the laughed as she stood up straight.
Murray Laughed right along with her.
"The truth is you would have been bored waiting around here with no tours so why not."  He reached over and signer her in as on time.  "But it will have to be our little secret."
Jenna smiled.
"Right"
he buzzed Jenna in, and she checked the schedule to see how long till the next tour.
It wasn't for an hour!  Jenna sighed.  What was she going to do for an hour?  She sat down in the employees lounge and the urge to be in the west tower once again consumed her. She stood up and decided that she would go and just walk around in the west tower for a while.

The west tower was pretty well just a place where they stored the real artifacts that were too old and falling apart to be used anymore.  There was one room in each of the three levels there. But it wasn't the tow bottom storage rooms that drew here there.  Up she climbed.  She wanted. No needed to be on the top floor tonight.  As she reached the top stairs she felt a tingling sensation wash over her sending goose bumps up and down her spine.  She looked at the door that led to the room.  As always there was no handle.  Rumors had spread about this room.  They said things like.."It's hexed... it's full of dead bodies...it's haunted... It has dragons gold"  Jenna could understand that though.  When the Mike Lulin had first bought the place, no matter what they tried to pry it open it remained unmarred, intact, and completely locked shut.
Jenna slowly reached out to touch the door.
"Jenna!!"  A loud screeching voice made Jenna scream and  jump high into the air.
"Jenna!"  The voice sounded again but this time Jenna knew it wasn’t coming from beyond the door like her imagination led her to believe, but it was coming from the stairs where Becky Burnster rounded the corner and nearly collided with Jenna.  "I am so glad I found you!  I need to talk to you!  Jenna looked down at her watch hoping that she would be able to use time as an excuse to leave, but no she still had 30 minutes until her tour started.
"Jenna listen I have talked to everyone else, and they are all much to busy to help me, but this is an emergency.!" Jenna tried not to snicker.  Becky's emergencies normally consisted of hair appointments, nail appointments, a sale at her favorite clothing store and so on.
"How can I help you Becky?" Jenna said politely.
"Well you see, I need to pick up my brothers halve uncle’s stepsister's son Percy from the airport tonight, and he being a young'n and all, I just have to do it!"
Jenna cut in
"Let me guess, you have to work tonight and need someone to cover your shift?" Jenna raised her eyebrows.
"Exactly!" Becky continued talking, even though Jenna was barely listening.
She was trying to find someway to be blunt and yet nice about saying now when something Becky said caught her interest.
"I have the easiest shift tonight.  All I am doing is guarding the west tower, and I will even give you halve my pay for doing it."
Time suddenly stood still.  She had her way to be here.  This was too much of a coincidence to pass up.
"So what do you say, can I go and pick up little Tommy tonight?  He really needs me! And everyone else has said no!" Becky pouted in what she thought was a face that no one could say no to, but really it was quite repugnant, and Jenna had to look away.
"Okay listen I will do, but I have a few conditions."
"Anything!" Becky said as her countenance lit up.
"Well first off I want you to give me thirty extra dollars right now, and I will get paid the whole amount, not halve!"  Jenna smiled.
"That’s not fair!" Becky whined.
"Well then I guess you can't go out clubbing with whatever tom ##### or Larry you have fawning over you at the moment, and instead you will have to work."  Jenna was taking a guess that her plans were going to be the same as they always were.  Go out get drunk, come to work with a hangover, then recover in time to go out and get drunk again.
Becky reached into her purse.
"FINE!"  She pulled out thirty dollars. "This is the last time I do something nice for you." She slapped the money into Jenna’s hand.
Jenna was going say something, but Becky took of grumbling before Jenna had a chance.
Jenna didn't even expect the thirty dollars, and as much as that was good, she was more excited that she had found a way to be in the west tower tonight....

The last of the magic
Posted On 03/04/2009 02:51:03

The kings court room which usually sat empty now began to fill, as countless people were flooding in to hear the news.  A terrible accusation floated about air.
"They say magic was involved!"
"The king’s daughter?... Dead?!"
"It couldn’t have been him!"
Whispered floated about in an angry, humming gossip.
Then the kind entered the room, and sat wearily on his throne.  His eyes were blood shoot and droopy.  His face was worn and haggard.  The murmur of voices seemed to have no effect on him as he sat there with a look of deep concern etched into his face.
Just then A great clashing and clanging came from the behind the doors that lead to the dungeons.  Great grunts of freedoms sought, and restraints being held firm could also be heard.
"I DIDN'T DO IT!"  Broken off form further utterance was the groan from who they could only assume was the prisoner.
The doors banged open as two guards, made their way forwards.  They thrust the prisoner to the foot of the king’s throne, and as silence finally swept over the crowd, the King looked down at the prisoner at his feet.  The purple robe cold only be that of Sorin the wizard.  He was on his knees, his fawn brown hair hiding his face that was bent low.  Tears dripped to the pavement, and everyone waited for someone to break the spell of silence.
"Sorin?"  The King whispered barely audible.
With out looking up, and in a deep anguished voice sorin spoke tersely.
"I Loved Her!"  even though it was not loud it penetrated the core of everyone in the room.
"I LOVED HER!!"  Now looking up directly into the kings eyes Sorin Gave a piercing challenge.
the king looked directly back pleading for an answer.
"I-" The king was cut off as a humming permeated the room.  It was hauntingly beautiful.  The three voices hummed up and down in range in a discordant melody.  Everyone was entranced. Out from the shadows emerged the king’s three advisors. The king suddenly gained back his confidence, and stood straighter in his throne.  His eyes glazed over, and got a steely look of anger to them.   The humming stopped.
"You majesty." The tall nasally one said as his boney fingers curled around the arm of the throne.  "This man before you is no ordinary man, in fact he is a well know wizard."  he pinched lips were only inches away from the king’s ear as he spoke.
"That is right." The average one spoke now more to the audience then to the king. "He may have been well known for how poor he was at magic, but he is a wizard nonetheless." His arms spread out gesturing to the audience for agreement.
Then the broad strong one standing from the back spoke Loud and boisterous with his arms folded across his chest, daring anyone to defy what he had to say.
"the truth is there was no forced entry into the castle, Magic was involved, and all the evidence up to this point proves that Sorin was The one who is guilty."  He gazed steadily over the crowd.
"I was away visiting some old friends! and when I came back she was dead!  I did not kill her! I swear to you there must be some other proof!"  Sorin was now standing determined to be heard.
"ENOUGH!"  The king bellowed. "MY DAUGHTER is DEAD!...DEAD!!"  His voice shook with the effort of yelling so loudly.  "AND SOMEONE!..."  He paused now and looked out over the crowd with unseeing eyes. "SOMEONE!!...did it."  He looked at Sorin, and his demeanor began to fall.  he Began to slouch, and sorrow once again entered his eyes, but not for long.  The humming once again came back but only this time more piercing.. more penetrating.   The king’s face grew harsh in lines, and his body stiff with anger.  "SOMEONE HAS GOT TO PAY!  SOMEONE MUST DIE FOR THIS!"
a brave soldier who was standing off to the sidelines stepped forward.
"Your Majesty...I know Sorin...I know I am stepping out of line, but he would never do a thing like this."  He knew it was a mistake too late.
The king drew his sword so fast no one knew what had happened till the soldier slumped to the floor in a heap.
"NO ONE DEFYS ME!"  the king began to loose control. He was shaking in anger.
The humming picked up again only this time the king seemed to calm down rather then get more angry.  They a young man from the crowd with a mess of black hair made his way to the front of the crowd.
"Your Majesty. I know I am being daring to talk openly with you but you must hear what I have to say! “He waited to see if the king would let him continue.  "If magic has been involved, then it is quite clear that the attack it to take over the throne.  Should that happen then the world as we know it will change.  Magic is not supposed to govern us!"  He got louder as he spoke with conviction rich in his voice.  "We can not let that happen!  If all evidence leads to Sorin then her should be put to death!  And not only him but all magic!  Any form of it! Our beloved princess is DEAD! and any "creature" wielding magic should be punished." The king looked out to the crowd to see who spoke the words that rang true in his ears, but he could not be found.
The humming at this point was almost deafening, and the silence that followed the king’s words had the same effect.  The king looked directly at Sorin, and Sorin alone could see that the king was not himself as his eyes were glazed over completely.
"Let it be known, and let an edict be written, that from this day hence we are at war with any person or creature who wields magic.  They all must DIE! By order of the KING!"
a loud explosion filled the room with purple smoke, coming from where Sorin once stood.
The crowd once again began to spread a hushed whisper of rumors amongst themselves.
"Is he dead?"
"He must be dead!"
"SILENCE!"  The king commanded. "You are my witnesses that not only must magic die for the belief of treason, but also anyone who may help them to escape must perish along with them."
Then the buzzing noise would not go away, and Jenna realized that she would be late for work again, and all because of this stupid reoccurring dream.

Okay, so I wrote this story about three times, and it go destroyed three times... i know I need to write it again, but I am so scared my computer will crash or the file will be lost, or even...my house could burn down...lol...
Anyhow, what I want to do is just write a shot stint of it whenever I feel the urge to write, and see what people think of it, because if it's good will get it published.  so feel free to comment on it or share it with anyone who you think would like it...
You should know however that I do not claim to be an English major in any shape or form, so there will be gramatical, and possibly more then likely spelling mistakes!  But I have to get out of my brain and recorded somehow, and if I have an audiance I will be more apt to continue writing it.
Just search for "the last of the magic" to see more

Thanks allot
