Despite the times in which we live...there is much good to be found. Things are prophesied to get much worse before they get better. But, we are to find peace because of the foundation upon which we are built. These things will all be for our good. They are refining processes which may be the actual things to help us be ready for the return of our Savior. I, for one, am looking forward to it all. Places of peace and refuge can bring us peace - even now. To me, there is no greater blessing than to know that.
We often quote the scripture in D&C 93:36 "The glory of God is intelligence..." and we stop there. We use that verse to stress the importance of getting an 'education'. But, if we are to continue forth with the meaning it says 'or in other words light and truth'. So...the glory of God, we can say, is light and truth! Therefore, in our quest for learning and knowledge we are to seek not only for 'intelligence' (as we often think about it) but LIGHT and TRUTH! There is much to learn but not all of it is of light and truth. I've given this matter much thought. It helps me dicipher between what is of worldly value and what is of more important eternal value! Joseph Smith reminded us 'not all truth is of equal value'.
New car or used? New clothes or used? New house or used? New heart or used?
Falling leaves. Fall leaves. Beautiful fall 'leaves'. There is much symbolism in the change of seasons. We can ponder and learn from God's creations and apply them to our lives. In preparation for winter, and the winter seasons of our lives, changes are to be made. The Lords servants have always prepared us, taught us, instructed us, and encouraged us to ready ourselves for the times ahead. If we watch nature as part of that preparation we will be blessed and inspired. What do you think?
Trying to find a way to use up all that wonderful zucchini or 'excess' squash? We made squash soup last night and it was delicious. It was also very fast and easy. Just thought I'd share. . . 3-4 squash (we used 1 zucchini and 3 summer squash) sliced 2 c. water 2 chicken bouillon salt and pepper to taste Simmer together until soft (10-15 min.) Then, mash or blend as desired. Add milk or cream to taste. It was delicious! The kids even loved it!!!

I love to walk alone with my thoughts and with the Lord. I think of it as my 'prayer walk'. I am able to connect with nature and with God and with few distractions. It's starting to get cold so I don't know if I'll continue to walk outside all winter or not. But, I'm grateful for the summer times that I've had as they've helped me clear my head and simplify some of life's hectic times.
We also do a 'prayer roll' as a family. It started a few months back when we were asked to pray for a particular man in our area. I wrote his name on a list and put it on the fridge for all to see. I also added a friend who had been struggling and -- the Prophet who had asked us in conference to pray for him. Within a few days the list had grown to include a missionary niece, family members and friends and each of my children.
Our family 'prayer roll' is meaningful. As we kneel to pray we are easily reminded of those in need and those we love. It helps us appreciate and acknowledge the blessings that we have when we are aware of some of the struggles and challenges of others'. http://www.simplifyheartandhome.blogspot.com
