Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Posted On: 05/06/2008 11:17:27

This is one of my most favorite hymns by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It was such a comfort to me as, last week, I went through a six day hospital stay for cancer surgery. It is so amazing what you can go through with God with you!

"Here's my heart, Lord, oh take and seal it, seal it for the courts above!"

God's Grace is ALL I ever need.

Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.

Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount!
I'm fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I'm come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.

Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart,
O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.

Looooove that song.  My husband's sisters and one niece did violins (and piano) of that song at his funeral.  I also sang that song as I knelt at his hospice bedside when he was very low (but not yet gone) and held his hand and bowed my head.  Love it.  Thanks for reminding us.

Nice Berthie....I do love this phrase: "Lord, I feel it." I need to remind myself on how fragile life is and be grateful for eveything we receive, including the trials.
