Wants/needs
Posted On: 08/23/2009 23:21:51

Wants vs. needs.  It's been said time and again about "wants" and "needs" and what the real difference is between the two.  I've been thinking about this a lot lately and the concept of covetousness.  I know God has always taken care of me and my family, in fact, He's always given us more than we need.  I don't really need much right now and I know God has better plans for my life than I could ever imagine.  God knows what I need and I need to trust Him to provide the things that are really needed and see all the rest as gravy.  I am very thankful for all the blessings and challenges actually too that God has given and what He has planned in the future.  I will go where He takes me...

yes...DrT...i do so agree with that. funny how our mind can sometimes confuse us with this.

i know it has to do with what we hold dear and important in our eyes according to our understanding of God's teachings.

it's so great that you have an abundance.....i, and my wife, are ok....but i work with people that have nothing. i sometimes wonder if those that feel blessed lose sight of those that have less, as if they are more deserving, and because, in their own minds, being reinforced with these blessings, they are somehow special...and those with less, are looked upon by HF as less desrving, hence, the blessings of plenty.

it's good to take notice of what we have, but so very dangerous to think we deserve it.

agreed brother.  :)  I also think people go to the other extreme and think they MUST have nothing.  I don't think that's accurate either.  I agree with your thoughts about constantly staying thankful, with material thinks, abilities, talents, etc.  All these are from God and all praises to God be given!  :)

Thanks Hem, it sounds as though you might be saying that unless we are obedient then God does not take care of us.  That's something I want to disagree with right away but I'll think about it.  thanks.

Yes sir, you are correct.  The gravy is also God's abundant blessings.  All thinks-ALL.  Thanks.
