Your added testimony is very powerful for me, thank you!  You do indeed have to follow in the footsteps of the person whom you are trying to be like.  When the Lord issued the charge to Abraham to "walk with me" He was instructing him on that very principle.  The covenants we make are indeed truth.  Your resolve to follow the prophet is inspiring.  Thank you.

I know that all that you said is truth. and before we can be like some one we have to follow the footstep of the person and that is what we are all trying to do as covenant people of the savior. and i will always try to follow the teaching of the lord and his prophets. because i know the lord speaks to his children through his servant. and i also know that the covenant that we make with him is also truth. this is what i leave with you in the name of Jesus christ Amen. Iknow it is truth and i leave you these blessing byeeeeeeeeee

I would have to agree that some of the arguing that ensues between members of the church on line, or the opposing opinions to our counsel from our prophet and leaders is disheartening to say the least.  A great post that addresses this issue is on this link here.

Your council is strong about heeding the words of our leaders and when doubts occur taking them to the Lord in prayer and supplication is the best way to approach the issue.

Very nice post, doggie. There are many ways to "walk the walk". Here is one of the things foremost in my mind today (after reading some slightly disturbing, and some very disturbing blog posts & comments recently by members of the church who are currently struggling with their testimonies). It is the following:

"Let no corrupt
communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of
edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto
the day of redemption.  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour,
and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: and be ye
kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for
Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

Although I think it is very natural during our lifetimes to experience doubts, and we will ALL be offended at least once and probably many times by fellow saints, and our beliefs will be continually modifying, waning, growing, etc. one of the very important coventants that we make with God is not to speak evil of His chosen prophets and leaders, and not to stir up contention. If we do not understand something, it is our responsibility to go to God and to work it out with Him, including studying His words (scriptures, past conference addresses, etc.) and not to stir up contention nor pull others down due to our own personal struggles. This is one of the truly discouraging things to me on the WWW. And I am not saying that I am perfect in this realm, as some of my comments and posts have been and will be taken the wrong way I am sure, however at least we should be diligently striving to be a peace maker, and not a peace destroyer. I think that is one of the very best ways for us to walk the walk right now in this modern digital world. (for what it's worth)

Thank you for this clear and easy way to think of it.  As you know, I posted on Abraham not too long ago, and I have more coming up on this.  It is beautiful scripture; beautiful covenant -- so effective and powerful in daily living.

I love the Bible Dictionary as well, it gives clarity to many terms in the Bible that we may need further instruction on. 

Those daily promptings are easier to feel as we heed them.  It becomes a matter of recognizing and doing. Thanks for your testimony of this very cool principle.

It's a simple matter of submitting our will to His and is manifest by our heeding the small daily promptings which come from Him.  It's simple to understand yet perhaps not so easy to follow with our 'natural man' tendencies.  Yet, as we yield our will to something better we are blessed, magnified and .....our lives actually become simpler (less cumbersome and chaotic) since we have purpose and meaning.  We truly are blessed to know of these truths and to know of what lineage we come.  We have both the blessing and the responsibility to be true to those things that we know.

Heeding the daily promptings becomes easier with time and practice (obedience).

Following in His ways is the wisest choice you could possible make I think.  Being committed is not always easy.  Going against the popular decision might not be easy as well, but the blessings for staying true to your covenants are worth it!
