Ok all please forgive my rambling which will happen but I need to get some of this out.
Last Sunday afternoon my house burnt to the ground. My husband and I were scrubbing a kitchen floor at the school across the street. We saw the fire truck and a few minutes later my husband stepped outside to take a break and let me get caught up with the mopping. He screamed " It's our house" and took off . I looke d out to see our monsterous flames shooting out the roof of our house. My first thought besides a prayer that the grandpas got out was to call the Landloard. He answered and said " Terry I am here"... Ok from here on so many miraculous things happened. My freind who teaches at the school was walking to the fire and found my dog hiding in the bushes. Her family stayed the whole time and never left my side hugs when I needed it and space too when needed. Now this is a small close knit community and so this fire of ours was a major event. Most the town turned out. The fire dept is all volunteer and had to call in engines from two towns. Our house was very old with paneling and the old time insulation so was engulfed in 30 minutes. There was no way it could be saved nor any of the contents.
My dad (73) and my Father in Law (69) were home and our dogs. thery were in separate rooms watching different ball games. My daughter had just been there 10 minutes before the fire started to get some dresses to take to a friends house. Our dogs started barking and my Dad thought someone was there and didn't get up rightr away the dogs came into the lliving room barking and acting crazy so my dad got up and made it to the Kitchen and was met by flames and smoke and tremendous heat. He ran back and got my Father in Law alerted and they both made it out just as the back windows exploded. My husband had to leave it was too much and as he was leaving my son who is on leave from Iraq drove up , he was visiting my older sons and had my youngest with him. So I sent him to run and catch up with my husband who was so upset. My friend from school called another friend who was still in town and her family picked up essentials for my two children sweats, shoes, shirts, undercloths, socks etc and towels for the family. The church near us came from their meeting and brough a nice wool friendship blanket and prayed. I called my work... I work at a resort near 10 miles away near Crater Lake and asked if 25 was ready and my co worker said it was already set aside for us and not to worry. 25 is a large nice cabin with a kitchen and washer and dryer.
&nb sp; &nb sp; I was facing another problem as I was housesitting for my bosses and the key was in the fire so the dog was stuck inside. I have such great co-workers who contacted teh owner and ended up having to kget a lock smith up to be aable to feed and let the dog out and feed the goats.
&nb sp; &nb sp; My daughters friends parents were ther and said she could stay there as long as she needed. My older son took my youngest with him to stay with his inlaws to be. My dad went to his sweeties house and after the fire was out and no more could be done and all the people left we were asked to go to the store wher the owner loaded us up with supplies... basic and more to get by for awhile. When we got up to the cfabins I went to the store there and my intent was to charge some cloths with the hope I might end up getting them at cost but my bosses ended up giving them to us. and letting us stay in this expensive cabin for free as long as needed. so much is happening to help us . Our land lord is refunding part of our rent and has been so supportive. A friend put on a spagetti feed to raise money to help us and so many helped with cloths, furniture and money it is overwhelming. Sunday after church 4 families came up to help us get the house wer are moving into ready ... I know I am leaving alot out but needed to get soem of this out. The paper wrote a story you can find it on the Medford Mail Tribune web site. Anyway I will write more another time but am amazed at the wonderful people and blessings that have helped us through this trying time. In the end things mean nothing to me it is all the things my children made fore me ,,, the love letteres my hubby wrote me.... All the letters from my friend, my grandma, and all my pictures. ... so many memories... We are lucky and will be ok but a bit sadder at times
