SoI had an interesting visit yesterday in the morning

So I have an interesting visit yesterday from my uncle Mr. Rosales.

Mr. Rosales is the kind of individual who wants to talk almost every LDS member out of our religion. I am not sure to what denomination he belongs to but he says he is a christian and a follower of the word of Jesus Christ.

Well my uncle came to my house yesterday and asked me to give a message to my dad about one of her relatives being sick. So the visit seemed pretty much normal like "Hey how are you doing? Can you tell your dad this info? OK nice seen you have a good day." and then by the time he is about to walk through the door he stops and tells me "Oh and there is something pending between the two of us." I knew what he wanted to talk about but I still asked what it was. So he brought the subject of the Missionaries visiting a while ago. and from there he started telling me about the BOM not being what we claim it to be, Another Testament of Jesus Churist. We talked for a little over two hours. He gave me all this physical evidence about the Bibile: Cities, Geography, Mountains, Scrolls. and asked me to give him any evidence that would prove the Book of Mormon is true and that its people, The Nephites, Lamanites, etc, existed. And he said he has seen video on the internet where Post-members of the church who have been LDS for their entire lives went down to archeological sites and then said that stuff didnt make sense. I have seen the videos myself before he brought it up but there was something that made me not believe those videos. Anyways, he asked me about the golden plates the prophet Joseph Smith had found and he keep insisting that if those plates really existed they should be brought up and given to the world. I told him that he had a copy of those plates right infront of us. But he was more into getting physical proof. He said he has read the Book of Mormon and he says it contradicts the Bible.

He gave me a challenge, yeah haha I havent been challenged in a long time. If he found something on the Bible that was different or contradicted in the BOM I should leave the church. I wasnt shocked at that moment I guess I wasnt even thinking correclty at that moment. I agreed to the challenge but one one condition, that if I found something on the BOM that compared to the Bible he was to accept it. So he started searching on my bible (JKV) for a scripture and asked me to find in the BOM the Crusifixion of Jesus Christ. I still wasnt sure what he was looking for and I wasnt sure what I was supposed to be looking for. So while he was still looking I gave him a Scripture from 2 Nephi. The scripture talked about the atonement of Christ. And I explained to my uncle what the chapter said about (The Chapter summary helped a lot ) but he didnt accept it as appropiate. He wanted me to find the Crucifixion of Christ and at that moment something came to my mind. My uncle and I actually talked about that just two months after I had joined the church. He wanted to tell me that in the Bible it says when Christ died there were 3 hours of darkness. and the BOM says there were 3 days of darkness. I have read that before but I havent gone back to check it out so I didnt want to say something that might be off or that he could get me into some sort of trap where I would be contradicting myself. He asked me how was it possible that there are those two differences in time. I said I dont know. seemed to be the best response to his question. BUt that didnt prove it to be contradictory. at least not to me. so I felt that I had won the challenge. but he didnt accept that comparison either. hahaha

We kept talking about more physical evidence about the dead Sea or was it the red sea? well the sea that where Moses opened a path for people to pass.( I am so sorry I still cant recall scriptures by memory)

He told me that there is evidence that that sea existed or something like that. But all of the sudden I asked him if he had any evidence that the sea was opened and people could pass through it. I thought I was pretty clever to ask that question where he couldnt deny he knew it was true because of faith. But my uncle is way too clever. He changed his point of view from a Christian to an Atheist.

Both my uncle and I had been Atheists prior to our conversions. He is an Engineer and I study Physics.

He talked about the sea opening and leaving a walking trail. He said that Physically that was impossible. I knew where he was going from there. He was going to talk about Volumes, densities, forces, and all that physics stuff that sometimes I hate =P

He said that if the sea opened that water had to go somewhere. and there fore if it was true it could of have flooded other places. now when the sea closed all that water had to go back from where it went to. Anyways I am not sure where he wanted to go to with that. but was good to avoid the faith required to beleive that Moses had the power to open it because it came from God.

I will have to leave it here right now, gotta go to a church dance ;)

But if I were to type everything the blog would be too flipping long.

I am going with the missionaries to my uncle's house sometime next week... or maybe the following week. It was his request before he left.

and I invited him to Church!!!

He said that he was gonna go yaaay! but he said that the moment he heard something that wasnt correct he would stand up and speak up. I welcomed him to do that. but I asked him not to do it during Sacrament. He thought about it for a second and said he wasnt be able to make it this week. so I commited him to go the following week!

To tell you the truth I am actually curious as how will that Sunday be like and quite anxious to hear the questions he might ask. or Statements he might declare

So any Ideas of what should I talk to him when I go visit him at his house?

thank you =D

How is it not a contradiction if the Bible says it was only dark for three hours but the Book of Mormon says it was dark for three whole days?
