John Bytheway Morningside
Posted On 11/20/2008 09:45:39

Wow!  What a wonderful morning we had yesterday.  Bro Bytheway is such a fantastic speaker.  He may have even reached my boys.  What he spoke about came from Alma 46-50.  He started with talking about consequences and both ends of the stick.  He made a great statement about the gospel making clear the consequences of our choices and how Satan covers up the consequences and makes it seem as if there isn't any.  He spoke about Lehonti and his men up on the mountain, high above and Amalickiah who wanted to be king.  He calls down Lehonti and Lehonti refuses.  This happens three times.  When Amalickiah realizes that Lehonti is standing firm he decides to go up the mountain and stops short of where Lehonti and his men are.  Then he calls Lehonti to come down "a little bit".  Alas, Lehonti is destroyed.  Satan is out to destroy us by small steps - dress "a little bit" immodest, it won't matter, a lie here, a lie there, an inappropriate show now and again.  There aren't any consequences if it's only this once, etc.  His main message - 1. We must remember our covenants (Alma 46 raise our flags from every tower) and keep those reminders around us  2. We must stand strong in the high places (Alma 47 don't even step down "a little bit") by attending our meetings, attending the temple, doing service, keeping guard of what we believe, etc.  3.  Listen and heed the men in the watchtowers.  (Alma 50)  Our prophet is also a seer and revelator.  He can see the trouble coming and is able to warn those that are listening.  Parents, too, are in the watchtower and should be heeded to.

Of course this is just a bunch of rambling and does not nearly do justice to the actual talk he gave.  I do love this gospel and know it is true.  In these times it is so difficult to raise children and I find myself relying more and more on the Lord and his servants to help steer us through.  God Bless.

Stake Conference blessings
Posted On 11/17/2008 10:04:38
This last weekend was our stake conference.  During the week we had a stake conference temple day which was wonderful.  To sit and listen to the Temple President speak while surrounded by others who feel the spirit is truly a blessing.  It was great to go and be filled with the spirit and to receive guidance.  There have been a couple of things troubling me deeply as of late that I have not been able to find answers to.  Being able to attend meetings and listen to leaders can definitely bring about a sense of peace in such a crazy place that we live.  While I still don't have any answers, I have peace while searching.  I love this gospel! God Bless.
